Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

Or a lot of backers already enjoy the alpha or find it promising and continue to support it ?
You always dismiss the principal reasons...
It's plausible. If people were prepared to throw money at CIG when they had nothing, it's reasonable to think people will throw more money at them when they have something.

I'm still not giving them anymore though, there are more deserving charities.

If that was the case, CIG could just ask people to give money without rewards. Every pledge comes with an expectation of some sort of reward, usually a ship (although we had land claims as well and other things).

If it wasn't for ship sales, CIG would have gone under years ago.

Sovapid... you've been a bad boy again haven't you?

Ah, welcome to MMOs dear poster. Now, if only SC had private groups or solo....

Ah, dreams. Someone thinks they are getting base building this decade i guess.

My homestead is my Kraken. Move it when I want, no building necessary.

Ah, the Kraken... which doesn't actually exist in game yet. Love how they use present tense for things that don't exist. SC backers in a nutshell.

Maybe you can build a homestead on one of the landing pads?

Now, if only this was like Ark, where you can build bases on the back of your "vehicles", even flying ones.

Good job from them so to keep a steady income.

And when some of you say "when they had nothing" or "without rewards" patch after patch it's only your vision (and for some a really distant vision as they have never tested the alpha) of what CIG deliver. For a lot of backers, CIG is actually delivering (slowly) something of a certain value. You dismiss or deny what a lot of backers really and personally get in exchange of their money. Dismissing or denying it doesn't make it disappear.

You can say force reaction is not useful/bugged, or eating/drinking is stupid, or the flight model revamp should have been made 5 years ago, or the prison is a wrong gameplay, or the ROC is just a variant of mining, or the new light/heightmap is just cosmetic, or the new BB API is just a something you find in other game... it doesn't change the fact that the monetary value of the current alpha as a game increase patch after patch. The gamebreakings bugs seriously decrease this market value, but they will not last forever. Each bug fixe also increases the value of the game.

For me, I get patch after patch as reward more and more fun from the alpha. My fun in a game has a value ? I think so.

Fair enough, but the flip side of the coin is people who were promised something in 2014 and beyond and havent been given what they promised. They exist too and are rightfully angry, their cash has value they havent received, a product that hasnt been delivered, and some of them feel ripped off or its a con.

All types exist. One is not fanboys and one is not haters. Those are the extremes of all types.

The prison was added because that's what the game engine can do. It can't deliver Star Citizen. The prison was added to give an appearance of progress, because Chris is running a confidence scam.
No it wasn’t. Sometimes I wonder how people can be this dense. It was added as a punishment system to dissuade people from ruining other players game. It’s a fair balance, not perfect yet but not bad either. Why do you guys always run with the craziest conspiracy theories?

It makes no sense to add in the prison before the crime system is fleshed out. This would make sure players don't get inappropriately punished. But players have been inappropriately punished. For months and months. SaltEMike recently rage quit out of a stream because of it.

They added prisons because that's all they are capable of doing. That's why it suddenly popped up on the roadmap right before they added it to the game. It gives the illusion of progress. It's all just to get more money for as long as they can.

This is nothing more than just your opinion

Prison is essential part of the crime system (like bounty or hacking gameplay). You can't 'flesh out' the crime system without it. It's alpha, they add it when they need it, not when it's convenient for the players.
