Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

The TTK has to be high enough for players to be able to go to the ship's locker room, change into protective gear, run to damaged parts of the ship, play a fire extinguisher mini-game, put their protective gear back in the locker, have the bartender mix them a cocktail, engage in some witty AI banter, and then return to their turret. That's the sort of "gameplay" Roberts likes to tease, because he's imagining a rubbish linear movie and not a fun game where multiple things are happening simultaneously.

Chris will need to nerf Sovapid then, because his TTK doesn't seem to make too many allowance for that kind of gameplay. :ROFLMAO:

I don’t play that much these times, but I’m jumping in the game tonight, if anyone wants to join or I can join you, I’m watching this thread. I’ll give an honest report tomorrow. I couldn’t recall my ship the last time, maybe I’ll have to do a workaround to get it now, but I’ll type out small review tomorrow with all the good and the bad.

edit: I’m drinking tonight, so if you want to play together you’ll have to cope with that😁

An unedited video report would be appreciated. I hope you understand that most here are skeptical of posts along the lines of "I had an awesome time tonight. I did 3 box delivery missions and i've never had such an amazing experience in any game before".

I don’t do videos. I don’t know how and I don’t want to figure it out right now, so you have to take my word for it, or maybe you jump in and you can record 😉

I just want to play

You have a graphics card capable of playing SC you have some sort of recording software built in. Either Windows 10 (built in) recording or nividia or AMD.

If you have an nvidia card just hit Alt F9 at the start of your session.

When done, upload the video to youtube.

Easy peasy.

Give it a try!

Just pressed alt f9
Lets see what happens

As far as I know its because of energy required to use such weapons. You need to be able to focus light enough to make it penetrate solid stuff (heat damage) which is an engineering matter but same as putting your railgun into a standard 220 Volt power outlet you would need a car or cart pulling along in order to house the generator or battery housing the energy levels required to reach the intensity for the laser to become weaponized

Tanks are a thing because the forces involved require such massive/solid housing to contain them that the resulting weight is immobile, at least for a foot soldier. Theres also stuff like recoil to consider. Aircraft today are able to pull 20G manouvers but whats the point if you kill your pilot by doing so? Star Citizen has a railgun shoulder mounted weapon and it behaves like a missile launcher mostly because there is no recoil or effect on the shooter. Its just CIG using a cool term for something thats not what its supposed to be.

Humanity has lots of great ideas, not only in regards to weapons (tho creativity in order to bash somebody elses head in is remarkable....peaceful species indeed...) and what makes them fantasies or unreachable usually are the lack of power. Given enough power you could theoretically even bend laws of physics and humanity hasnt learned to harness those levels yet.
Energy is easy, but portable storage of it is not. Cartridge operated firearms offer neat way to storage both projectile, and energy needed to accelerate it. Railguns, lasers and such don't have same convenient way to store needed energy. And say, lugging IC generator around is not very handy solution. (My solution in that scifi stuff was storage in minityarised high temp superconductor ring. Vastly more powerfull than todays batteries...).

Didn’t get one, where are the files saved?

Don't remember by default, i changed mine. IIRC you can press Alt-Z to configure it.

Just to confirm, you do have an nvidia card and have GeForce Experience installed right?

You can check it by looking in your system tray for the nvidia icon and clicking on it, opening geforce experience, and checking the options there. Since a couple of years ago you do need to have a registered nvidia account for it to open.... its a major peeve of mine.

Alternately, just use Windows 10 recording.

Enable Screen Recording
First, make sure that Game Bar is enabled. Open Settings > Gaming > Game bar and turn on the switch to Record game clips, screenshots, and broadcast using Game Bar, if it's not already on.

Press Win+G to open the Game Bar.

Girlfriend came in an hour ago, I want to buy a few parking spaces, seems like a good investment, she’s not too fond of it, long story short, we had a long talk and now I just want to play again, so I’m not going to find it out right now, maybe next time, I just want to relax and play now.

Alright, review for tonight.
I started of getting my Connie back, I couldn’t retrieve it like in my last session. I was at new Babbage, took my loaner arrow and flew to the space station above. There I reclaimed my Connie, took 4 minutes, smoked a cigarette. After that, did some trading, went pretty smooth, agony aunt asked me to record the game, I tried but it didn’t seem to work. I’m not that good in windows, I’m a mac guy, built my pc as a cheap rendering machine at home with the perks to play a few games on it (came in handy since horizons didn’t have any Mac support and I could try star citizen on it). Girlfriend came home, had a long talk about investments, so after that I didn’t really feel like trying to get video recording working, sorry for that. Anyway, session timed out in that period, I logged in again and went to get my ROC (mining buggy). That was pretty f’d up, when I closed the ramp of my Connie the roc started breakdancing in the cargo hold. That’s a problem I’ve experienced the last 2 patches or so. Thing is, if I park a tumbril buggy in it, there is no issue at all. Anyway, so much for mining, did a few missions (bounty, search...) and traded some cargo on the side. Except for the ROC that is obviously seriously bugged everything went pretty smooth. No 30k, no other funny stuff, just a chill experience.
