Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

Machinima doesn’t tell you anything about actual gameplay though (and it usually imagines scenarios which don’t exist in the game). That’s Agony’s point.

The assets, animations and lighting aren’t faked, for sure. But it’s still not the game. It’s a fake scenario, created using game assets.

Machinima like this, which tells a story about the actual gameplay experience, is probably more representative in that sense ;)

I have some really boring SC videos without any bugs at all...hours of them. No bugs except landing services not working (when that was a thing) and having to refuel by hovering over the pad inside the hangar of course. That takes forever in a Caterpillar. However, my videos are so boring showing what I actually do in SC all day, it's almost as bad as watching one of my regular Fuel Rat trips in Elite..."Friendship drive charging" Nobody is watching that...especially not when you lot have the attention span of an average wasp :D

Hey! I resemble that... look at the pretty butterfly! 🦋

You're watching a completely different video to the one i'm talking about.

Well I’ve watched that one now godammit 😄

We were talking about machinima, and your framing of that specific vid was
way off, IE:

Nothing about any of this is faked.

That’s what I was taking issue with.

I think we can agree that it actually involves a lot of faking and misrepresentation of the game?

(I’m tapped out on SC fan vids for the day, but I’ll watch the org vid later. Not sure it really has much to do with the machinima theme I was discussing with you though.)

Heh perhaps, when I get some hefty amount of free disk space, I should make video of one days exploration trip in ED, that would be really exciting stuff :D

ATC always shows in the comms MFD...scroll down to the bottom if like me you have 100 or so other contacts listed on there. It doesn't automatically appear at the top of the contacts list as it should, being the closest...but it's always there :)
... in theory. I know that, I did have a lot of times when I still had to open the mobiglass, go to "friends" to see the ATC listed there, because on the MFD it was definitely not.
Also related to ATC, contact them, the hangar bay doors open, then close immediately, you then have to re-contact them to open the doors again, which sometimes lead to a sound loop of them telling you that you are clear to land. That, and the still buggered repair and refuel once you managed to get through all of these.

Did my usual housekeeping of updating and executing the RSI Launcher.

It fires up, looks for and successfully connects to Ci-G's servers, and them immediately quits to a inactive window that maintains a steady link to <redacted> that just contains my logon procedure and account rewards in an infinite loop.

This game downloads directly from the company, yes? No Epic store or anything like that? And even more important, while I know Fleet Week is free, do they ask for a credit card to register? Some companies do the "free trial" by forcing you to sign up and then cancel yourself, which is something I have ZERO interest in. I don't even want them to know my real name, let alone my credit card #.

Yeah, directly from the website and their servers. There's no credit card info request (at least not when I registered in 2018) at registration, and then once you've confirmed it, you download the installer, and that's it. Be ready to have 50-65GB of space ready for everything.

They don't have my real name at all, just my registration name...which is Mole...same as it is everywhere else, plus a valid email address. Even on the remote chance you decide to buy anything at all (not recommended), they have a Paypal option :)
