Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

Only if he genuinely has had access to a CIG dev. That'd be interesting.

(Although the most likely scenario is it's just Zyloh the CM, who hangs around the popular streams. In which case the information is pretty much worthless, as that guy is PR central ;))

Zyloh is a time traveling wizard who is able to play games at least six years before they are released. Why wouldn't you believe a person who can see the future?

So he is wrong in the first sentence about the Agent. I understand he is an entertainer, not a journalist. Still.

Yeah, Agent has a decent track record of hits, Berks definitely overstates there.

3.0 weeks before gamescom
ben leaving AtV
the amount of filmed mocap (had it at 18+, devs confirmed it was 20 hours) (which by the way, people said 18 was way too much and I was insane and there's no way it was even close to 18 hours)
more mocap in october (said this back in august I think, sandi herself confirmed)
the animation/model problems with SQ42 waaaaaay before they talked about it at citcon/after citcon
same with the AI problems
all of this before we saw the behind the scenes atv of the citcon up (Oct 12th)
spectrum/companion app leaked (before anyone even imagined it being a thing)

I've said this all before, but the nature of this game makes any leaks not 100% certain

TheAgent posted:

I'd also like to point out that I've never received so much conflicting information about a project

half the things I get I don't post until I hear it from multiple people, mostly because it seems like the internal roadmap for the project continues to change on a near monthly basis. first they are concentrating on SC, then SQ42, then SC again, then mocap, then SQ42 animations, then back to SC, then about how x needs to get fixed before y because z can't work without x and y which slows down everything and almost puts an entire company on hold for weeks

(the other half is just straight up crazy I don't believe or super personal that I don't really want to get into)

even the 38 studio leaks, the RTW leaks and DNF leaks were more clear and concise than anything I'm getting about SC/SQ42

and I have been wrong, probably about a lot of stuff, because I don't work there and I'm not a journalist so who cares, just laugh at this dumb game and the inept idiots at the top running the whole thing

Throw in the AMD re-partnering, and stuff like the recent Turbulent predictions landing, and he's definitely peeked behind the curtain and seen some perplexing things.

Berks's general response is just pretty hilarious though 😄. He's very much raging at the very idea that cap ship PvP could fall through, more than anything ;)

Huh...always interesting to hear about how I've been wrong but that I have been right but I'm obviously wrong but yeah okay, it could be possible, but I'm incorrect about a lot of stuff but some stuff is accurate but anyone can guess that and it's not right anyway.

My memory is conflated with another Berks conversation this week where he said he talked to a "dev" that said:

Note: the following is my vague recollection and might be wrong.

CIG's development is in a "dark tunnel" at the moment which means they're working hard but looking for a light at the end of the tunnel.

No, its bought with the money you earn in game, UEC (United Earth Credits) its a currency, like $ / £ / Rubles, the same as ED, you earn money and you buy stuff with it.

Once you bought something you're stuck with it, you can't sell it, you can't disregard it, it just clutters up your inventory.

That's what i was asking. You can't sell it.

Strange.

I now wonder how far they got with Dwarf Fortress Steam version. I'd love to see a more graphical version.

Why?
Because if you dug too deep a dark tunnel in DF you might end up opening a passage to the gates of hell. A popular end to many Dwarf Fortresses. Yeah, that light at the end isn't necessarily benevolent.

Regarding Berks on The Agent, I think he's just repeating what SC Leaks said. We can all watch and see what happens. Personally I'm looking forward to developments. :)
