Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

if you want to be griefer proof, or at least single griefer proof, dat hercules is crazy strong when upgraded.

It just so happens...both my Hercs have the very same thing. I've been using that S3 shield combo since back when the Cat used to have 2 shield generators. Even against a couple of griefers, they have to get the shields down before I can jump... which is a tall order ;)

The difference between a milking cow and a beef cow is as marked as the difference between EDO and SC...besides milking cows being strictly female and the other lot predominantly male.

Not that I've ever tried, but I assume from general experience around cows that trying to milk a 'raised for beef' bullock (neutered bull) would be quite difficult. It might make the bullock briefly happy though...before it tried to kill you :)
Beef is nice and all but I'm more in to pork. I'm a Schnitzel person. But if I had to do the work I'd rather abstain from the meat. Fish is different - I catch kill and eat them. They are just beautiful creatures. gollum

I don't know what to tell you...

Right click friend from main menu, invite to party, leader clicks persistent world. I do it on a weekly bases.

I mean, yeah maybe if the server is full you might have to organise your group a little but like I said, shall I detail the 2 hours my friend and I spent trying to get multicrew working in ED before giving up?
Not trying to be flippant here, serious comment: Re Elite, have you and your friend tried port forwarding? Fully aware you should not need to know how to do it but it can improve the multiplayer experience significantly.

From my testing, I would say with 97% certainty that this makes a difference, If you have any experience with AX combat you may be familiar with terms such as "Desync, Heart Bug, Extra Shield/Swarm, etc, etc" all of which are incredibly annoying and game-breaking bugs that occur solely because of networking issues. These issues almost entirely dissapear once Port Forwarding is correctly configured on all wing members systems. I have already recommended this to my squadron.

I mean, if you put a bit of thought into it you'd realise I wouldn't have known that you're not particularly nice to converse with until I conversed with you passive aggressive wink face

Semantics. You are correct and I'm wrong to say there is no way to share missions BUT only wing missions can be shared and only one of them at a time. So if you're in multicrew (which totally removes your ability to fly in a wing and my friend consistently doesn't get mission credit even for their own missions) or Odyssey (where there are no team missions at all and many solo missions will bug out when you take a team mate) or get kill counts in an SRV while your friend is on foot you're out of luck.

In SC, you click share and go do stuff.

Again, this doesn't mean SC isn't open to criticism but for a multiplayer game FD could learn a lot about multiplayer mechanics.
Dayum. Dude, perhaps next time try not to read so much into an emoji.

Also your statement was still false. Yeah, mission sharing in ED is badly limited, but you can share missions. Blanket statements which are inaccuate either means you dont know, and therefore need correcting or you are intentionally misrepresenting things and should be called out for it. ;)

Try it! For science!

There is a famous scene in Silicon Valley of a tech CEO going to see his horses while they are being bred to produce strong racing offspring. It is by far the strangest piece of TV I have ever seen, and 100% real. Semi-NSFW.

Todd sort-of confirms it is lowered tick rate. I am surprised they were not prepared to answer the D-question. Jared is visibly amused and then goes into the bullrant mode.
Politician speech at its finest, with tentative poker face barely hiding the discomfort.

So they only got 2 options when setting up the servers? either have many 30k and almost bearable desyncs or the other way around? And they seem to have no idea how to fix? Bright future ahead!

As for Hobo Lando, we'll keeps being him and parroting the green book of faithful arguments.

Can they make pretty assets? Sure
Can they make an enjoyable game experience somehow?
Can they make to the release? Perhaps with another couple of decades and billions and human technology reach a higher level to manage their badly managed project for them
Can they make what they promised? No, because they don't know how and that's not CIG's business plan.

"So, what did we learn today?"

I think these are the parameters they can more or less control, as they are generally struggling with net code, persistence and all the challenges of scalable backend services. If I were in their place, I would pick more desync as well - fewer 30ks definitely look better in streams and, given the incomplete persistence and the additional tedium that can be added to every server crash, can be less frustrating for players. They could probably increase the tick rate with larger server instances, but that would proportionally increase the cost of the infrastructure.

Funny how the question of "Do you even play Star Citizen?" becomes "Have you played Star Citizen recently?" to the statement "You aren't playing/installing it right."

I guess my own experiences playing Star Citizen are somehow not in line with reality.

Like it's great that you guys enjoy the game, bugs and all, but some of us do not. There's serious issues with the game that even the most hardcore of backers admit are frequent problems.

TheAgent, i just had an epiphany! you are well known for, ah, well, pooping on star citizen on forums and whatnot. all i do is blow up forum dads in game.

we should join forces! i can help you spawn, climb ladders and whatever. and then we can multicrew and just murder nerds ingame!

its like peanut butter and jelly!

add me in game or we can coordinate here, whichever is easier for you.

true, some lies are ok and some aint

It’s more a question of scale. A beta sold as a full product, versus an alpha monetised for 9 years as a GAAS. For example. But there are many other areas where the joke is going full apples and oranges, and so falls flat.

For almost every criticism which can be levelled at ED for the way they’ve marketed and attempted delivery on their dream pitch (of which there are many), SC has absolutely romped away and done it egregiously worse. Which is quite the achievement ;)

Sounds easy enough, but SC doesn't run for more than 5 or 10 minutes for me, then ctd. I've never been in the game long enough to group up, etc.

Conversely, when in EDH or EDO, those things dont have issues for me. I team up, then we go do stuff. Maybe not missions, more just going to bases and messing around. Will try some missions soon.

My point is it seems some folks are having luck in one or other maybe. Maybe some are having luck in both? Must be nice.

Seems to me FDev almost makes it tough to do social things. SC, like other multiplayer games, does seem a bit easier. Yes, that's from my 5-10 minute windows of experience.
