A fraction? I didnt realise EDO content was that huge.Because the way FD have handled VR in EDO tells you that anything on foot is going to be pass through VR, so even when other stuff gets added to ED the only time VR will work properly is when seated in the cockpit at which point it will be a fraction of the game content. So if I cannot play the content in VR anyway then VR is no longer a differentiator.

For me, it’s a verisimilitude thing. Effort (which is what a lot of people call grind these days) is one thing. But the mental dissonance between being a space billionaire on the one hand, and having to act like a struggling scavenger and thief on the other, eventually gets tiring.A lot of them aren't ditching one for t'other though...which seems to be the point of contention for some reason. As for grind, it's everywhere in typical MMO games, no matter what they are. SC has it too but the grind is for aUEC...which I've noted a few EDO refugees mention as 'making more sense'. I can't see it to be fair but I've made a mental note of it being mentioned a few times. To me, grind is grind...whether it's for aUEC or mats.
I've said all along that there is no VR in Odyssey because Frontier knew they couldn't hit the required framerate. SC is in the same boat, plus the added complication of forced character animations, which is a big no-no for VR.I strongly doubt it, the time to have done it was for EDO, now they have a huge bunch of technical debt, so they are in the same situation as SC. I can understand why they didn't do VR on foot as they focused on the FPS side and very few FPS do VR. However for an explorer on foot is not just combat, in a long trip into the black I might want to get out and view hundreds of planets on foot in VR without a sight of combat. We have seen a churn of designers and key people over the years and I think the vision for ED has moved with it and VR has been a casualty of that. Shame, hopefully someone picks up the baton of space VR in a reasonably sized pseudo realistic space setting.
Definitely seeing the tattoo avatar here!I'm curious now...what avatar pic do you see...my wife's Mole tattoo.. or the StigBob inspired creation? I'm still seeing the StigBob one

Personally, I wish you would stop spreading false informations. You need less than 2 minutes to get off the surface of a planet. I do a "eliminate nest" mission in 15 minutes : waking up in a bed in a space station, claiming my ship, QT to planet and land, clear 8 to 12 NPC in a cave, come back to the ship and fly to space ready for another mission...Personally, even if it had zero bugs, from what I've seen of others playing it in real time all I have to say is "yawn". Intentional time sinks under the guise of "fidelity" is not my thing. Barely have an hour to spend on games these days so SC taking up 30min to get off the surface of a planet before you can even do anything is not my idea of "fun". YMMV of course, have at it if that's your thing.
We wish you would do so, too.Personally, I wish you would stop spreading false informations...
There is VR in Odyssey, but not an optimal experience when compared to Horizons is more accurate I feel.I've said all along that there is no VR in Odyssey because Frontier knew they couldn't hit the required framerate. No half sensible adult needs constant and incessant lecturing from me or anyone else on the intimacies of Ci¬G's business practises, that information is out there and readily available through a simple Google search, it has been for many years...it's up to them to read or ignore it. I've found that most have, one way or the other, but decided that besides not being overly important to them on a personal level, they're also mature enough to make their own decisions, almost entirely despite the "Ci¬G is everything bad/good in the world." serial whiners.
Manure. Not like I haven't literally seen people take 15 min+ every time. Case in point:Personally, I wish you would stop spreading false informations. Yes, I suppose players could just avoid the shiny new planet with the pretty clouds, oh I'm sorry I meant "volumetric cloud tech".Depends on the planet right…
Xink said every take off take forever. It's simply not true. If you want to play quick, you can play quick. Saying you need 30 minutes to leave every planet is a lie. You can spend your entire life without visiting a city except for buying a new ship. And when you take of from land (not city) to space, for every planet (except Orison), you need less than 2 minutes. He would know it if he simply play the alpha.Depends on the planet right…
Do you think its at all possible to be frustrated by a games problems, to come to places like this and vent to people who understand your frustrations.Well, when there are long time players of SC in this very thread that say things like "I've stopped playing for now, too many 30k errors", it is hardly a shining endorsement for the state of the game, such as it is.
Personally, even if it had zero bugs, from what I've seen of others playing it in real time all I have to say is "yawn". Intentional time sinks under the guise of "fidelity" is not my thing. But don't come all "you don't even play the game" - we can all see it for exactly what it is on twitch and decide for ourselves if it looks like something we'd like to play before clicking the very large "playable now" buttons all over their site. Again, how strange no mention of alpha among those buttons. I think I've played every space game out there bar ED and SC simply because neither of them seem fun to me.
Of course casual observers will make fun of CIG spending time on trivialities like NPCs eating, canteen queues and p00p mechanics rather than core gameplay. Shocking, I know. Doubly shocking that streamers that make money off SC will only show the fun bits to get more views. Almost like they're doing it on purpose, you might say. Will say it again - don't base buying decisions on streamers with a vested interest in what they show.
