Dude, i don't have 2 hours, much as i enjoy listening to those guys. Can you throw a few choice timestamps our way?
Having started listening myself, it doesn't really seem compatible with providing specific soundbites as it's building an overall narrative by going through the history of the roadmap, using audio clips from CIG representatives or previous Guard Frequency episodes. The only real shortcut is to start listening at around the 20 minute mark. I'm currently at the 40 minute mark (+20 minutes from that starting point) and can say I'm intrigued enough to keep listening.

Sounds like I'll have something to listen to if I get a chance to play ED tonight. :)

Dang it... I think I just jinxed myself. 😱

this was a very long recording for their audio podcast, but Guard Frequency did a great parody show and breakdown of CIG's roadmap mistakes over the years, including how the current drama was signposted along the way

There is nothing worse than watching a stream of boomer's trying to get their #### together for 15 minutes.

But at least they made some jokes about planning vs delivery ;)

(Yeah I totally skipped on though…)

This happens with some streamers, just messing about being jolly for the fist 10 minutes, 20 minutes....... they think some how its a good thing. It isn't, what you doing as the audience is waiting for them to get started.

Another thing some tend to do is when one of them is in the middle of saying something really profound another one butts in with something really daft and you have to wait for that person to stop being a clown so we can get back to what was being said that matters, again, really annoying.
You see this on TV too, years ago i used to watch a topical quiz show hosted by Stephen Fry, a very clever guy full of little snippets of very interesting information, one of their regulars was a man named Alan Davies, the guy is a clown, he would interrupt Stephen Fry in the middle of saying something profound constantly, in the end it just became impossible for me to watch it. It was done deliberately by the producers because some idiot somewhere in the production team wrongly thought their audience had an IQ of 76 and would find the clown entertaining, no, their audience was there to listen to Stephen Fry.

Most websites now treat SC as the joke it is. MassivelyOP always makes jokes about its unending development cycle and the latest manure CIG has managed to concoct, all while suckers still buy fake jpgs for whatever reason.

Not even the rabid fanbase and their unending hate towards anyone that dares critique is enough to stop them these days. Excluding the shill pieces like that Gamerant thing which reads like the "journalist" read one of CIG's advertising emails and took it at face value, or got paid to advertise SC while pretending to talk about Starfield.

Beyond a small circle of niche space game fans, no one really cares. It's a joke.
90 days tops!

Seems to boil down to:

  • Refocus on SQ42 announcement came after Calders investment announcement
  • The roadmaps for PU have overtly overpromised and underdelivered in the meantime. Blaming the community for this is absurd.
  • Asides about ToW, missing SQ42 reveals, and Chris’s 2014 claim to be better on delivery vs overreach (because he feels he can always add more later…)
  • Musings on how roadmaps and dev updates are marketing tools as much as anything, and have helped with community engagement and distraction/entertainment to date (especially via feeding content creators). But slow delivery means that effect is running out of a steam, and currently flipping to a negative.

Not super revelatory.

I'll take your word for it. I like the guys and their take on things in general, but man, they just ramble on and on and on. I was falling asleep.
