Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

Also, we are nothing more than noisy roadmap watchers.
I think Ms Gardiner described us best of all live on video..."Entitled whiners." was the term used. That was just before I reminded Ci¬G and Ms Gardiner...since she was the head of concierge account services back then... that when I 'whined', it was for a fairly good reason and refunded my account accordingly :)

Funny you should say that. I just watched a video about Sandi Gardener. That post about the backer who's upset that the money he "donated" to CIG will be used to develop a game in which he has no interest. That got me wondering about all the other uses for his money that might upset him, and that got me into thinking about Sandi Gardener's wages. I wasn't sure if she was qualified for the position she found herself in, and so I went Googling to find out

Look at me waffling away. That's the sort of lack of concentration I have that gets me watching videos instead of searching for the stuff I intended to look for. But it was a fun video to watch. I was surprised when I saw the ending, which stated that the next video in the series would be about the Frankenstein's abomination of a gaming engine they're using

There's so much wrong with Star Citizen it takes more than one video to explain all their failings. The game is one in a million, and that's why it's provided us with a decade's worth of entertainment

All I can say to you is a big thank you. Without people like you providing Chris Roberts all this money we wouldn't be able to see how this all turns out. Here's to the last ten years of fun watching the development of this game and here's to the next ten years still to come

By the way, her degree is in marine biology

The appointment of Sandi was nepotism at its finest. The appointment of Ortwin... well, shady since he represented CryTek, but ok, it was for a position he was an expert it. The appointment of Erin... sure, he had many years of experience working for an evil AAA company banging out reskinned games, but ok, its relevant. Sandi? They made her head of HR and head of marketing... when she was totally unqualified for either position.

The Concierge forum was reasonably upset at being called noise makers by CIG's management for a couple of days, but that appears to have passed now. Folks don't like to believe they've wasted gobs of money.

I strongly suspect that Ms Gardiner demanded the job rather then her being legitimately appointed...

Wasn't she allegedly a stalker of CR at one point?
CR had a restraining order placed on her at one point, according to police files, since his former wife and children were involved with Ms Gardiner constantly phoning or visiting their family home uninvited. I surmise it was during the time CR was head of Ascendant pictures...CR has since absolved himself of the entire thing of course...Can't remember a thing about it seemingly :)

millions of dollars to a broken ass game, I couldnt even get from the initial station into the ship with so many bugs when they opened it for everyone for a week, plus I have a rtx 2060 and my game was running at 15-20fps, plus you have to pay real money for each ship? Nah, I'll take ED over star citizen any day, only thing they had over ED was leaving the ship, odissey came to bury them.

I tend to play SC when with org mates, since multi-crew gameplay is pretty entertaining at this point.
But when gaming solo, I prefer Elite.

Witness the power of sunk cost fallacy
I'm genuinely surprised the concierge forum even noticed...from popping in there every now and then, they usually live in a world totally separated from reality. If your penchant leans more toward a gun toting discussion on the US constitution, namely the 2nd amendment...it's the place to go

Just to step back from all the partisanship, i hope, i'd say that while both games can be enjoyed both solo and with friends, ED does lend itself better to the solo gameplay experience while SC does lend itself better to the multiplayer experience.

Having said that, just had a fun multiplayer mission with a friend in ED, which was unfortunately cut short by FD's servers going on the blink.

This is the sort of rubbish you don't have to put up with when you play a single player game.

Getting too close to politics for this forum, but i've never understood this obsession with guns they have in the US. I've enjoyed living in countries with restrictions on gun ownership and felt safe. I've never worried about some gun toting maniac entering my house with the intent of killing me and my family. But in the US people behave as though this is an actual thing that could happen. Perhaps the only reason it could happen is because anyone and their dog can get a gun?

This certainly lines up with some of the concierge backers I've encountered over the years - from the ones who talk a big game to the ones who like to roleplay in their paramilitary gear costumes to those with more extreme ideologies.
