Initially? No, FDev was never crowdfunded, it was just Elite that was crowdfunded....
Initially it was not CIG that was crowdfunded*. It was the game Star Citizen that was crowdfunded. It met its crowdfunding goal back before 2014 and the Kickstarter was closed. Here we are in 2022 and the game is still not released.

*Is it CIG who are being crowdfunded now? I thought it was still the non existent game.

If FDev wouldn't have gotten the money there would be no Elite, if CIG wouldn't have gotten the money there would be no SC and CIG. CIG are a crowdfunded company, FDev are not, and never were.

It's both, really.

Is when you feel so entitled about the money belongig to you instead of the original purpose it was raised for.
That's why it's a bad idea to donate cash away to corpos that dont deliver any accountability. Is fraud paradise

How often are you currently refueling other ships in SC?
I'm not EVO, will see in 1 or 2 weeks.

Aren't you more likely to die of hunger?
You can't die of an empty tank, the ship doesn't explode for no reason. If nobody refuel you and your are out of food, you will die of hunger and your ship will stay in place with your corpse. You will have to get back to your ship or use the insurance to retrieve it.

Are there player groups that sit on trains and deliver hot-dogs to you before you starve? Like deliveroo

You have indeed sometimes to bring food or drinks to guys that will or are dying of hunger or thirst.
When you mine on Aberdeen or Arial (more than 200°C) thirst can come pretty quick.

That would seem like the best place for them to introduce a fancy new UI then as its something you apparantly are already doing and it's never been done before oh wait

The fancy UI consist to give by hand the food/drink to the other player. Something that you can't do in ED...
You can even stock your fridge (if your ship have one) and let other players get what they want in it.

I beg to differ but you can purchase food from any reputable station in ED and simply jetison it for your friends to scoop up if that's your thing.

Is the transfer of food something you consider integral to the spiritual successor to Wing Commander then?
