I think the following comment about this stupid vanduul mask issue is probably the most on point I have seen so far:

They had to do it for sq42. no way the game could release with the garbage they have now.

If anything this makes a release of sq42 at least plausible.

i didnt say that sq42 wouldnt need more than just a decent flight setup.

The point is that you dont want to release a space combat game where the space combat is not good.
