Star Citizen Discussions v7

I don't know why CR said they would be trying for release in December. I wish I did.

Because he wanted to build the HYPE(as usual) clearly knowing that 3.0 is FAR FAR away from actual release to the backers but he did it anyway just because he was certain that this will boost cash income for him&CIG.....IT WAS PLAIN AND PURPOSED LIE......

Yeah, it is very mysterious. Why would the CEO of a company pretend the development of their product is way further than it really is while trying to sell expensive accessories? Ah well, I guess its one of those mysteries we'll never solve.

Well they're obviously not fake in that they exist and we can see them.

But in your opinion, how much relation do you think the procedural city planet video will have to actual gameplay and content say twelve months from now? Bear in mind the sandworm demonstration video from Citcon 2016 that was trotted out about 12 months ago and is still basically in the realms of fantasy. Come to think of it do you think the sandworm demonstration will have any bearing on any kind of gameplay or content in SC in 12 months time?

I think progen cities will show up well within the year. And as stated, not all of them will be fully exploitable/usable buildings, but some will be. Kinda like the planets/moons in ED.

The Sandworm I think will be making its appearance quite soon.

The planned game had some multiplayer functionality but it was planned to be an MMO in the same way that COD is an MMO.

Coop play with very limited multiplayer capability...hosted by players. The games focus was always more on the single player aspect. The more MMO style came alomg later.

Real quick, Star Citizen is:

A rich universe focused on epic space adventure, trading and dogfighting in first person.
Single Player – Offline or Online(Drop in / Drop out co-op play)
Persistent Universe (hosted by US)
Mod-able multiplayer (hosted by YOU)
No Subscriptions
No Pay to Win

CR even denied for years that he was creating an MMO. And the original plan....single player on/offline, modable multiplayer...that was presented is not one which requires specialised networking systems. CE had netcode sufficient for small scale player interaction. Which made it "suited" for the game as originally planned and described.

3.0 Image from CitCon 2016

So, in the 3.0 Release:

1.) Trading: confirmed as incoming with 3.0
2.) Cargo Transport: confirmed as incoming with 3.0
3.) Piracy & Smuggling: Since its tied to 1 and 2, I would expect to see this in part, perhaps not the smuggling bit
4.) Mercenary: Coming via missions in 3.0
5.) Bounty Hunter: Coming via missions in 3.0

Stanton System Rollout: So far, in part.

RSI Ursa Rover: Confirmed in 3.0
Drake Dragonfly: Confirmed in 3.0
Drake Caterpillar: Already in Alpha and flyable
RSI Constellation Aquilla: Confirmed in 3.0

We already have some leakage of stuff from 3.1

The Prospector and 85x

Looks like some 3.2 ships too very soon...

So all in all, just about everything said to be in 3.0 is coming... in 3.0.

Not sure the chart is completely accurate, as just the concierge sale (which was war bonds only, meaning no store credits), which was 2000 ships, sold out in a few hours. Which is 1.53 million bucks.

If I'm not mistaken there was a Concierge-only warbond presale for 2000 units. The actual concept sale contained 2000 warbond units and an additional 2000 non-warbond ships.

There are currently no Pioneers available from that group of Pioneers, so lets be safe and say in 5 days at least 3 million...

Nope. The spreadsheet is accurate, only difference is that it rolls over to the next day at an diffrent hour, IIRC. Even if you don't believe it, the official tracker has the income at $976,680 for the first day and $598,285 for the second day, for $1,574,965 in two days. The rest of the graph is less accurate, but I think it's around $400k for the next three days, for around $2 million. According to the unofficial tracker, the entire October has earned $3.2 million.

As for the "no promises" quote, I'd have to dig around for the exact wording, but it was something along the lines of "This is your end-of-the-year release, hopefully not on the 19th of December". It's pretty obvious that the "hopefully" refers to the latter statement. Or to paraphrase "definitely this year, but hopefully not on the -end of it where there's no hope for a patch and devs are on holidays".

I could cut my steak in the kitchen with a $30 knife... But instead I bought some Kuro Hana kitchen knives from Edge of Belgravia for $300. Damascus steel FTW...
More relevant, I've just spent what some would call a stupid amount on a pair of Virpil joysticks that I've never even seen IRL but would probably be 90% satisfied with a pair of T160000Ms.
I've always found that leaving people to spend their own money how they want leads to a life less troubled with a misplaced concern for others' "wellbeing."

I'd be disappointed if CIG collapsed before the game came out, but not devastated even though I've spent more on SC than I have even on ED, which about $500 total from the alpha to engine smoke colours and the recent gorgeous Predator paint jobs...
I have been enjoying watching the development of SC over the years and have had more enjoyment from that game just by chatting and theorycrafting than I have so far than several other games I've actually bought and played.

ADHD 向け TL;DR: Money spent? Whatever.

None of those examples are similar to what we are talking about in respect to SC. Lets take your Kuro Hana knife, and make it comparable to SC. You could have either purchased it for $30 or you could have purchased it for $300. It is the same knife, same quality, you even get it at the same time. But you opted to pay the $300 instead of the $30, and didn't even know the quality of the knife at purchase.

People were saying the same when they showed pupil to planet in 2015.

Maybe I'm confused - but didn't they just sell 2000 of them at $850, and now they are going for $750? Did CIG just slice their concierge backers of an extra $100? :D

I think that with the $850 variant you could trade in / use credit whatever you call it where as the $750 is a "Warbond" one, where you have to pay cold hard cash .... or something like that ....

Not sure why this is "reduced scope" or "reduced number of planets/systems". Its Alpha 3.0 not release.

Because the original plan for 3.0 was the entire system.

4 planets....12 moons...30-40 stations.

What are we getting?

CR also never said 3.0 WILL arrive in December of 2016. He clearly said "no promises". Although some people like to chop out that part... often.

I suppose we could give you this in a sense. What he did say was that 3.0 was to be the big end of year release.

And now it seems to be $900 !!! ???

Lol, so 40 stations are coming? Or you can remove that + 8 planets by saung 'its coming in parts'. [haha]
