Star Citizen Discussions v7

I think it's great that people are really into something but when they pre-order digital goods to the tune of $7000 or honestly believe they have more fun thinking about a game than playing one, you have to wonder what the reality is going to be like for them. It's a complete loss of perspective in my opinion and it's like they are willfully blinkering themselves to everything else that is available.

This is great. I'm having loads of fun with Star Citizen, and now I find out I've saved seven grand. WOO HOO!

Been clarified in the thread many times already but just in case: The MVP mentioned in the latest ATV seems to refer to 3.0 live, not to final SC release live.

Another test video has appeared at https://streamable.com/xrv6l
FPS is in the top right corner (you may need to squint): Depending on how many commandos you're looking at, it wanders between 15 and 60.
Be still, my beating heart.

Does the commando nearest us need the loo? Surely the test can pause for long enough for him to go sort himself out. Maybe he's scared he'll get a box stuck to his/her hand?

Thanks to Rolan btw for the updates once more - interesting that there's the confessional about how little of the city was at that impressive detail level. It's just as I predicted after seeing them turn around to fly back through the highly detailed area they'd already walked through, but you wouldn't think that from how I've seen it talked about amongst the faithful. Here's betting that little truth sinks without a trace

I think 3.0 is going to end up triage'd to the point where they can't call it an MVP but it can be scraped out in some form this year.... I suspect in a totally broken state just to make it before christmas. Poor devs :( I really do feel for them at this time of year

I'm waiting for CiG to decided that single digit releases, 3.0, 3.1 etc have been tarred by bad news and aren't cutting edge enough. From now on name them after fruit, the first will be the Durian release.

You don't get away with it that easily, source?

[smile]

There is no definitive prove for this until we see how CIG launches 3.0.

I just refer to the actual source, the ATV passage where Pappy uses the MVP term. And I simply say "seems to refer" to 3.0, not SC. Looks very clear to me and others in the thread, but obviously you can opt to believe the reference was to a final SC release. Crazy if you ask me, but hey.

Honestly, I'm only in this for the lulz. [haha]

But remember, the reason 3.0 has taken sooo long is because they expanded the scope! /s

Yes but referring to 3.0 as in a MVP release state does not make any sense. So far the only reference to MVP has been to the state of SC. So saying that they are trying to get 3.0 to the MVP state, can only be a reference of 3.0 being the MVP.

It might be refered by CIG that way, but considering realities of project, it IS MVP for SC by all means.

That can't have been what they were doing the entire stress test, right?

According to bits, yes, they did very minimal amount of activities and that's what goal of that strange stress test.

As it will float with SC community - who knows. I think it is pathetic. But to be fair, I even car less that I did several weeks ago.

That all depends on what puts stress on the system, though. If doing absolutely nothing pushes the servers to the limit, then doing nothing is a good stress test.

Hideously insanely laughably incompetently made game (or other online software), but good stress test of… whatever useless nonsense they've made instead of any of that.

So… yeah. :D

My favourite bit was the commandos standing up in space. [haha]
