Technically having to EVA to fix your ship shouldn't slow the process down at all. You wouldn't need to stop or slow down your ship to do this, so I can't see it being an issue. Personally it is something I would like to see in ED at some point (not something you have to do all the time, just on rare occasion or after a battle).

Just like you can in X3 ?, it's a novelty the first time and exciting when there are bad guys on the way. But after a while it gets boring and you just pay a shipyard or leave something heavy on the fire key.

Same as moving boxes, remember Deus Ex you build a box fort and a ramp a couple of times then never touch a box again, except dynamite crates that never gets old.

I am surprised by the disbelievers and not understanding the genius behind SC and simple basic mathematics and of course game development. Let me spell it out, SC will be 10 times better then any other game ever made that 10 systems will be equal to 100 systems of game play in a typical game. Yes 10 times better and as 10 systems 10 times 10 equals 100 systems of game play. Simple and it is why the game is taking so long, it is the factoring required to make that game play that much more immersive. Then (my heart be still, as it is racing at this prospect) it is possible no nay I say very likely to be 20 times better. Yes 20 times and then we get (wait for it) 5 systems, yet as each system is worth 20 of any other game again we get the 100 systems of game play we were promised. I know someone will say wait a minute 100 system but at 20 times better and 10 systems released isn't that 200 systems? Of course and earlier in this thread Henry1491 made this statement:
.
Now, let's say they finally manage a 100 'solar'/star systems in SC... actually let's be generous and say they churn out 200 star systems in the CIG/SC 'universe'.
.
See my point is already made by Henry1491 he foresaw the magic of SC and the magic of multiplication of awesomeness of this game on release that with the full 10 systems (take a breath and calm down), and it being 20 times better we get Henry1491 200 systems. See others in this thread already predicted how wonderful, magical, immersive, and words fail how magnificent this game will be.
.
When I pledged and got my Constellation in SC and am a Gold Ticket Holder, I saw the $6,000,000 dollar mark reached and thought 100 systems on release, I just didn't know 100 systems was 5 or 10 with the game play of 100. I just didn't understand game development or magical math. I was blinded by what was said and promised, I just didn't understand game development and that what I saw as a promise at the stretch goal of 100 systems on release, was a metaphor for meaning how awesome the game play will be, that will make 5 or 10 systems seem like 100. With a million people (1,000,000) playing 5 or 10 systems will feel empty and lonely and I wonder if I will see anyone else playing the game. So much immersion and space (to fly in), it could be a lonely existence with everyone spread out and only if equally proportioned only 100,000 people in each system..... I might not see another player only npc's. So lonely....

Quite a big discussion about this on /r/games https://www.reddit.com/r/Games/comments/6o40ga/star_citizen_development_progress_infographic/

And on /r/starcitizen https://www.reddit.com/r/starcitizen/comments/6o5aji/alpha_30_star_system_development_progress/

I like that people are claiming they are cramming way more content into the systems (only 7-14 missions iirc) than originally planned despite so much of the original content, features and mechanics being moved to 3.1 and beyond. Do these people live in oo land?

And this one putting the blame elsewhere and once again ignoring everything that's been removed from 3.0

This is quite incredible, I did not remember that was 3.0 was supposed to be released last year with much much more content.
It's absolutely true, and this is not the first time CR has overstated what will come in a patch and when it will be released. The problem was that the studio outsourced to work on the planets (BHVR) is busy with their own projects, and the in-house team is not big enough yet to work on them themselves. Leading to a delay on the planets of Stanton.

Got to laugh at the frantic downvoting on r/starcitizen. Some marketing drones are getting overtime it seems.

I know it's early and my coffee hasn't kicked in just yet...but...what...the...?!
I just didn't understand game development
You still don't
and that what I saw as a promise at the stretch goal of 100 systems on release, was a metaphor for meaning how awesome the game play will be, that will make 5 or 10 systems seem like 100
Have you seriously just said this?! *scratches head*
he foresaw the magic of SC and the magic of multiplication of awesomeness
I suggest you both go back and pass your school maths exam. This has to be the silliest thing ever :D

I am still scratching my head and rubbing my eyes.
I simply cannot understand how you can be serious about your post. Metaphor?! Seriously?!
The only thing I can think of right now is Chris Morris and Brass Eye!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oooooooo now there's an idea...a Brass Eye on SC development would be side splitting, eye wateringly funny!!!
EDIT: Please tell me your post was tongue in cheek and a joke? PLEASE!

Sorry guys but all that fidelity is confusing me, with 3.0 will be released 5->10 star systems or 1 star system with 5->10 planets?

3.0 will have a partial star system where you can land on a few moons.

The proper retail release of the game (2020-2022) will supposedly have 5-10 star systems.
