Hmm.
The music for the first teaser trailer was ok for a teaser, but personally I'm glad the style has moved away from that.
I don't really like the dynamic that comes from an obvious 2 or 3 chord progression that simply loops repeatedly. It works great for a trailer which doesn't really require much more than single, unchanging mood, but for anything more complex, dynamic and involving I find it doesn't quite work. Having said that, it is very much the fashion these days - see the ubiquitous work of Remote Control Productions.
But this is all just due to my personal musical bugbears. Even when I wrote my updated orchestral version of the Elite 2 theme one of my main urges was to change it - or at least try to disguise it's 4chordloopiness.
However, although juicy complex orchestral stuff is what I prefer to listen to and write... I do find myself occasionally yearning for a more ambient, cold, inhuman musical vibe when I watch the alpha vids. OR some BSG-style taiko frenzy! But this too is probably stemming from the slightly conditioning influence of recent scifi stuff I've liked.
Good discussion.
