VR is only absolutely fundamental to those who use VR...I still use a head/eyetracking system on a flat monitor for flight sims and space games like Elite or SC... so not as important or fundamental for me as utilising support for my Tobii 4CI don't know... conceptually, it looks like exactly the thing I wanted to see being done with the Star Wars license. On the other hand, it's EA, so how good can it be?
Multiplayer PVP space combat remains a very difficult genre to do right. The good games in the genre usually rely on Newtonian flight or some other implementation of decoupled flight/aim to solve the "two ships endlessly chasing each other's tails in a circle" problem. But FAOFF style flight doesn't tend to result in very "Star Wars" feeling gameplay. Even in ED, which tried to go for some sort of compromise, PVP ended up being an FAOFF fest. It's going to be interesting to see how EA attacks this problem.
Good for EA to recognise, though, how absolutely fundamental VR support is for a cockpit-based space game in the year 2020.
in reality its just experienced space fighter jocks
I played it on release and the fact that ships behaved like fighter jets (thrust always on) was utterly disappointing.EVE Valkyrie was quite fun to play in VR
BTW, Frontier has done me more "wrong" as a company over the years than EA ever has.![]()
eh, it's more like this:

Yes I saw that too.
It shows that there will be a huge monetizing machine attached to the game.
It doesnt look like theres going to be a campaign? Didnt the original xvt flop because there was no campaign? Why?
Also if its first person its probably going to upset the other one more than elite in terms of replacing gameplay..?
You dodged a bullet with Sim City. Isnt Maxis now closed?I’ve definitely played, and enjoyed, some EA games. That being said, I haven’t knowingly bought an EA game for about ten years now. I can think of quite a few EA games I would've bought, if they weren’t being published by EA: Mass Effect 3, Sim City, Jedi: Fallen Order, and several of the Dragon Age games immediately come to mind.
Yeah but can you buy them for ARX?Pre-order* STAR WARS™: Squadrons now to get cosmetic items for your New Republic and Imperial pilots and starfighters:
Which reminds me to wishlist it.and now with Steam presence
Only just now? I've been hating the cockpit interface/design since I saw how more refined it can be (in scam citizen). I know, they make money selling pixel spaceships, but still, it looks like a proper spaceship. For contrast, I don't like Elite design style - it's weirdly cartoonish to me. The notable exception are the Gutamaya ships which in my opinion are the closest thing to how a spaceship should look.starts to look outdated
I don't think a fan remake of ice age tech ;-) can directly compete with a AAA production pumped up by multi-billion dollar studio so I don't really think EA will shot it down. On the other hand this is EA we're talking about so all evil bets are on the table ;-)
