Started my exploration career of with a bang :)

So having finally made it to Sol, I had decided many weeks ago that this would be the starting point for my exploration career. I had already prep'd my Asp Explorer and had her fined tuned for sorties into the black.

So leaving Earth I skirted around the moon one final time and headed out past the gas giants. Without a clear direction of where to head, I pointed the nose of my Asp hubward and hit the FSD. On my way I found my first salvager ship (having never been on salvage missions I stopped for a brief look and collected the black box just out of curiosity).

Good bye merrier England :)

Not part of my mission but a nice shot of a black hole in Maia

Not really sure what I'm doing yet but I plan to search for earth like planets

I'll post more if I find anything interesting

Good luck CMDR.

I advise everyone to check out Barnards loop, Vy Canis majoris or Betelgeuse.
For the hardcore I'd say Sagittarius A* and Great Annihilator, edge/top/bottom of universe is always fun too as are all the nebula :)

Have fun in the black and come back safe 07

I saw Bernards Loop but I'm heading in the other direction. May be on the way home in a few months time haha

So continuing onwards I've got a nice binary system shot, discovered my first water world in Col285 Sector CR-M D7 66, and been up and personal with my first Nebula (IC4604 Nebula). I'm liking this :)

Enjoy the journey commander!
Please be careful on your way back to base - cargo from salvageable wrecks is illegal in most jurisdictions (you have to take a black box recovery mission to legally salvage them). If you were to get scanned I think the fine would be a few thousand Cr, so nothing to compare with the payout from even a few days spent exploring, but I don't know what the effect on your reputation is with the minor faction concerned. There are plenty of outposts around with black markets for you to sell it at, where you are not too likely to be scanned, fortunately. If this kind of smuggling interests you, then look out for 'large data survey caches' at salvageable wrecks, as they are reportedly worth hundreds of thousands on the black market (I have not encountered any myself, they are rather rare). Occupied Escape Pods and the small data survey caches are worth a few thousand.
Fly safe!

I'm noticing a pattern to your images. They're all from inside the Asp looking sideways.

CTRL+ALT+SPACE should launch your confidential camera to take open scenic shots.

So 20 days ago I started to cross a void between two arms in the galaxy spiral. I was heading for this distant nebula

I am almost there, hopefully get there today :) On the way I saw a cool tri star system :)

Well onwards and inwards as they say. I stopped a while near the Nebula I was heading for and explored a few systems. Mostly metal content worlds, with a few water worlds (more credits in the bank when I return home). However I am now jumping again towards the core (currently about 5800 LY from Sol)

Nice water world with ice poles :)

Watching the sun rise on a far distant planet, whilst drinking my first coffee of the day :)

& a weird little constellation I found that I call the 'kneeling man'

I have decided to celebrate the event of reaching 10,000 LY from Sol by naming my Asp Explorer. I think she has earned the privilege. For my continued mission into the black, I will be in the safe hands of the 'RV Edelweiss' :)

So today I encountered my first Neutron star. This tiny inconspicuous speck (see below) caused me to drop out of super-cruise, over heat and irreversibly trash my heat sink :/ opps. Cool though and on the plus side it was undiscovered until today :)

and I got this cool shot as I was about to fuel scoop :)

Firstly thank you everyone who is following this diary thread :) means a lot to me that people are actually interested.

So a month into the black and just over 10,000 LY from Sol. I am finding loads of unclaimed neutron stars now but I am still cherry picking my way to the core. Lots of massive jump spurts and then neutron hunting on the way. I only play a couple of hours a day so i think I've got about another real month until I hit the core. The space madness occasionally gets to me but hey that's all part of being an explorer so I try to embrace it and just talk to my ship console hahahaha

The RV Edelweiss is in reasonable shape at 86% but does have a few cracks in the canopy, a trashed heat sink and a temperamental frame shift drive. On my next exped out into the black I will be bringing a repair unit (school boy error not to on this run)

Not any great shot for you guys at the moment but I kinda liked this one. Just standard fuel scooping and the star spat a huge plume out at me. Not dangerous but looked cool :)

Well I have now crossed the last proper open expanse before the core, having passed from the Norma Expanse into the Near 3KPC Arm. It looks as though from now on I will be in a more heavily dense area of the galaxy. I've still got a way to go yet as I am only approx 14,000ly from Sol. Getting there though haha. Got a nice moody shot of the 'RV Edelweiss' too, silhouetted against the Near 3KPC Arm :)

Approaching the far side of the Near 3KPC Arm tonight and just over 9,000ly from Sagittarius A :)

Collecting a few a few water worlds on the way and came across this one below (just look at the size of the ice cap)

Also came across this which I found interesting from a visual point of view and also the nice atmospheric shot below that :)

I'm hoping to meet up with fellow explorers at Sag A, as i want a cool multi ship photo at the black hole :)

Almost there. So close I can almost smell Sag A (and the Queen that resides there hahahaha). Only 5,000ly away now so will arrive either tomorrow or the day after.

Found these 2 stars bouncing off each other too. Well I found it interesting hehe
