Starting To Seriously Lose Faith

And lastly, to Ralph Vargr : Frontier has not "lost me" as a 3rd party developer! Thanks for creating that other topic (which is now closed) and thanks for your concern & support! But as I stated in my earlier post here : I'm taking a break! I did not say I've quit! :) Taking a break fully implies I'll be back at some time in the future :)

Darn. Just when we thought we had the field to our own... ;-)

top be honest, unless FD implement negative rep (and even if they did i am not sure rep of a thread is a good indication of something a dev should take note of... but there would be a better chance). then rep is a bad guide for pointing out what suggestions FD should take note on.

It works perfectly well on Reddit.

IF person X posted all the modes have to go and the game be open only - it WOULD get huge rep off a section of the forum who have been demanding that for ages despite it being a total bait and switch from the design.........
then if person Y said we need some EXTRA modes with different rule sets like in the DDF/Dev diaries that would ALSO get a huge amount of rep.

A. I don't think "open only" would get as much support as you imagine. B. Common sense applies here for anybody reading these threads, just because it has a lot of rep does not necessitate following its advice verbatim. The concern here is whether the developers are even *seeing* threads with lots of positive rep and little discussion posts (because everyone just agrees with the first post).

also past polls have shown that some folk are happy to make sock puppet accounts or go over to other forums and get their mates to come and make an account just to vote on something. We dont even have to have played the game to post rep..

Should be easily adjustable by Brett C. such that you must have a certain amount of posts/account existed for period of time/some other idea in order to participate.

I know i am probably sounding like a broken record but all the legwork has already been done... where possible FD should just use the ideas forum they already have, the one folk paid a lot of money to have input on, and the one which already has the features rubber stamped by the devs... the DDF.
imo only when the devs look at a DDF suggesion and think, "we can do better than that" or "really that is not technically possible I would not know where to start to make that" should FD be asking for thoughts.

and then imo it should be very targeted.... ie. Hello CMDRS, we have been having a look at npc ships crew. Frankly we do not like the DDF proposal, we feel that what we put in there is a bare minimum of what you should expect (their words in the DDF) however we want to do better....... what suggestions do you have to improve them over and above what is in the DDF.

I don't know what's in the DDF, I wasn't around for that. All I know is I've made several threads, as has Frenotx here, where there's been lots of positive feedback, not very much discussion, and the threads go dormant, get locked, and for all intents and purposes fall off the face of the earth. That's a big problem.

It's a problem. Even if it is getting spotted by the devs, having something receive a few, "yeah that'd be great"s from the community then vanish is very disheartening, and eats up motivation to continue coming up with suggestions.

As far as the DDF goes, it can all be found here:

Read with caution. Frustration and sadness are bound to follow.

Yeah, I personally have recently been on the receiving end of rep in the Suggestions forum by posters who did not post. I appreciate it and all ... but ... guys ...

Having said that, I'm not sure that rep is really a way of gauging anything other than controversy. I personally am about 10 times more likely to get rep if I post a daft trollolo remark on here after a Friday night beer, than if I post a load of stats or game mechanics stuff. Plus I note that a number of forum users (none present!) whom I personally think are several space sandwiches short of a cosmic picnic, are by no means short of rep ...

It's a good way to judge a troll 1 day poster on 1st glance tho.

Does everyone have no faith that Fdev, if nothing else, has enough common sense to be able to deduce the difference between a meme and a legitimate suggestion? C'mon.

It's not like it's some AI program that just picks highest-repped threads and chucks them into a suggestion box. All it would be is a number they can look at when browsing suggestions and go, "Hey! This suggestion thread got a lot of upvotes while it was visible on the front pages, maybe we should really consider this one!"

OP: As you age and your tastes and hopefully maturity increases, some things lose their luster. That is okay, nothing wrong with that. I saw many post that I agree with; depression can "tint" a game, movie, book, etc...with our own negativity and it isn't what we are engaging in that is "blah," it is us. This comes from someone who knows about this too; I am not speculating, I have lived it.

Please don't place your worth and happiness in a game, person, job, hobby, or activity; that comes from God alone, through faith in Christ alone. I am not going to go into a full blown sermon, but that is what I know to be the truth. All else is vexation and vanity; nothing really matters outside of service to God. If you are still reading and are tolerant towards me speaking what I had to say. It is my duty to proselytize. If I didn't, that would mean I didn't care for you and didn't actually believe the Bible. But, I digress.

I understand what you mean about how the game has seemed to turned in one direction, while a swath of people are desiring it to go another. I think it is "business as usual." Honestly, I do. At the end of the day, a company is about profit and what I am beginning to see happening is that they don't want to do what EVE has done. EVE has kept a lot of new players from ever trying (I played the game for over a year and it felt like a job to me), and I had to quit playing. I played some other games on XBox 360 and XBox One and when I found ED, I knew I found the game I had been waiting for. It was in-depth enough to immerse me, but not so much that I felt like I was working: it struck a perfect middle ground for me. Not to be "fanboy" but I think I could play this game for many years. I can't always "binge play" (but when I can it is very nice), and have to settle for an hour or two a day, tops -and if that much.

All that said, I do see a large-scale Thargoid invasion on the way, setting the stage for PVE, World of Warcraft style of raids and boss battles. I like and dislike this. IF it is the ONLY or main attraction and update for awhile; I most certainly dislike it. But, this explains why payouts are skyrocketing (yay), the grind is down, and they are focused on wings and missions supporting such things. I think they are trying to get the MMO aspect of this game going. Look, unless a person buys ship skins, decals, etc; Frontier only makes about $100 a person...forever and still runs servers and all sorts of maintenance. I applaud them for that.

I want space legs like "a nobody's bidness" and it kills me that there isn't a FPS aspect to this game yet. But, that takes a lot of time, effort and MONEY. I may get stones thrown at me, but if Star Citizen EVER does near what they promised an eon ago, I will begin playing it (or any game that does what No Man's Sky promised (not delivered).

They do seem to listen to players and I wish they were a bit more transparent on where they are actually planning on going for the next 3 years; I won't even ask the typical 5 years projection. That all said, I do love this game, it has such a strong player community it is ridiculous and if they would open the doors for some of that content, it could bolster a lot of people's want to stick around. Make "Hutton Space Orbital" or "Radio Sidewinder" channels alongside GalNet, ad a PIP screen for webrowsing/video viewing in the black exploration runs/space trucking. There are a lot of ideas that I am sure they hear everyday all day; they do have to pick the ones that keep their company afloat first. However, I think they would be amazed at what the players would be willing to help implement....

Keep with it all, I pray all goes well for you.
