State of the Game

the ocean is such a dead end for evolution. you'd think populated with living things the longest ...there would be some sort of mer-civilization ...rather than just ever more varieties of things to get stuck in plastic garbage.
We know very, very little about the ocean though. The ocean floor is mapped less than the surfaces of Mars and Venus, and we probably have studied less than 1% of the ocean by volume. Plenty of space for mer-civilisations and less anthropomorphic communities to thrive.

And yet we supply them with free plastic. We should tax them somehow! Or just stop giving it to them.

Eh? It's a cat?
Oh yes, silly me! Just like this little kitty:

"Excuse me, did you drop this plastic bottle?"

we have laser mapping from satellite of the entire thing. it's only the detailed half meter mapping that is at 20%.

so the mer-civilization would have to be hiding really well or as non-existent as the chance for powerplay to be finally completed.

A bit of stretch. We can infer bathymetry from satellite altimeters. We probably would miss much of humanity if we tried to map life on the continents the same way.

Yeah the end of the Director's Cut of that particular movie was a bit sad. They should have been as indifferent to us as we were to them before Ed Harris ruined the whole thing.

Ok, not so fun fact. Abyss ending was censored in France, due to the controversial nuclear testing we were doing in the pacific (I think). The ending was different (if I remember correctly the original have some ecological stuff in it, and show the French nuclear testing as a "bad thing").

I reckon the mer civilisation evolved quicker, developed space travel and left the planet long before we fell out of trees.
Also, your powerplay analogy is incorrect - there is at least a very tiny chance of an undetectable sea civilisation that's been living with us for millennia.

Ok, maybe they went to Nibiru or the hole in the Antartic ? Helped by the space lizard cabal OFC. You don't remember them because of all the chem trail and the NASA faking he moon landing to divert your attention.

Looks like that particular Cold War malarky is being brought up again. Could be the French were treated to the Cameron's preferred ending? It was basically that the deep dwellers was a bit annoyed with all the nuclear testing etc and threatened to wipe us all off the map. I think Ed Harris managed to pull off a sob story and they didn't. It's a bit blurry.
