State of the Game

In other news, rainstorm Heggerty has merged with rainbanks Dawlish and Monroe, and have decided to set up camp directly overhead. The garden weeds report great satisfaction.
weather forecast for Hobart today reads "rain at times" - but then you look at the possible amount 1-3mm - so not even enough time to open the brolly. Wouldn't be of any help anyway, rain will come sideways due to windy conditions.

What else could they say that would make you happy?

in patch notes? nothing.. you shouldn't be writing about stuff not in the patch there ... Commentary about the dev work should be what the dev posts (rather the live streams) are supposed to be for.

i'd love for the dev streams to actually be streams and not a forum post that's obviously been edited. .. and in this live stream they can discuss specific things ...like say the lighting changes. What was their intention with the lighting updates from horizons. What went wrong with those updates. And what they're going to need to do to fix them. That would give us a good view on the scope of the problem and thus the time to expect something like that to be fixed. Then they could talk about the rendering changes that were needed for odyssey's interior of building gameplay that were required from what existed in horizons. What went wrong there. What needs to be done (and is underway) in fixing it.

stuff like that would be, i think a realistic and not too time consuming means of providing info that is a bit more meaningful than FDev vagueness which really should hold no value to anyone here anymore. That's what the more open and direct communication and dev stream stuff was supposed to be for, and has so far not delivered at all.

Darth, do it like me - uninstall and play something else meanwhile -you can install it later again, but having it uninstalled will free your mind for now. you are then no longer in an inside view, but look at it from the outside - and this helps a lot, at least it did it for me.

why would you uninstall something just to not play it? you can just leave it there and do the same thing.. it's not going to infect the other things you run with it's unfinished development

dont confuse Forum Tycoon Planet with elite dangerous. Playing FTP is much more engaging and more of a fully cohesive game than ED is. And that's what we're doing here now.

when i'm not here playing FTP... i'm probably playing conan exiles. I can run my own server, and the wife and i can play on that server with the mods we want and even though it crashes somewhat frequently on linux because it's far from perfect...it's worth the restarts.

Since odyssey, i've barely loaded up elite because i'm out in the black waiting for something to happen in the game that isn't boring. So i periodically go in there to mine a bit... jump around ...get bored and log off - the only thing one can do in 99.99% of all of the systems in the game. Eventually i'll return to civilization. but probably not for a long time unless something interesting actually makes it worth while to. still holding out hope of a large scale thargoid attack that destroys the bubble.

that is pretty similar to how I felt actually - I really suggest to have a break and try to get an outside view - suspend it until christmas - then you can give it another go.

silly person... wine, obvs...

And just to bring the thread on topic for a moment, I can heartily recommend the Shakshuka recipe that @Lysette posted up the other day. I made it with fresh chillies, smoked paprika harissa paste, coriander and a little thai basil for brunch, and being a heathen had it with fresh really seeded toast and I must say it's absolutely bl00dy gorgeous! 👏👏
Traditionally (so I'm told) wine was not added- it was just really well cooked onion broth really.

The fun with cooking is to be creative with it though - shashuka is great as is, but one can give it a personal touch as well - not to make it better, it might not be for others, but to improve the own experience and just for enjoying yourself in the kitchen. just following recipes will not give the same pleasure.

i'm not like rabbit over there all sad and depressed about elite sucking and it being all doomed.

unlike rubber over here who still has hope that fdev will provide the game that powerplay promised... that hopeful player part of me died a long time ago. I'm ok with it being something that is interesting when they set the narrative in motion and boring as drek in between.

but really ED's main purpose lately has just been to drive content on FTP. and FTP is pretty fun.

True, but sometimes its nice to have some semblance of what the dish was before it was changed or I freestyle it. Curries for example are where I like to know what the original was like.
