State of the Game

Wagon Wheels certainly have been reduced in size...

I used to buy a handful each week from the local confectionery shop to pack with my lunch - I was 18 then and have only grown outward since...

They were almost as large as my hand in those days - the most recent ones bought barely covered my palm... Q.E.D.

We are all part of The Void.
I assume that is the Royal "we" and encompasses all of one's multiple personalities... Who strangely all appear to be called Marvin...

alternative explanation is that you have a pituitary gland issue and you've been growing non-stop since you were 18 and the cookies have remained the same size.

Only in America could biscuits and gravy exist; a dish which includes neither biscuits nor gravy.

I see biscuits there ...real biscuits. not misnamed cookies. and gravy. Though not a dish i eat because it's a breakfast dish and it looks unhealthy as hell as most creamy gravy would tend to be.

I had to use separate pictures because you'd never see them together in a civilised country.

(I should probably point out that I'm not ignorant as to US 'biscuits' and 'gravy', I've had them whilst performing missionary work among the heathen horde across the water. 'biscuits' are fine. 'gravy' less so. Don't even get me started on grits.)

The name cookie is derived from the Dutch word koekje, meaning “small or little cake.” Biscuit comes from the Latin word bis coctum, which means, “twice baked.” According to culinary historians, the first historic record of cookies was their use as test cakes.

Not me, mate... I do biscuits, proper sweetmeats...

Cookies I bought in several states in the USA while driving Historic Route 66 a few years back... (Made a pleasant diversion from working.) they, like the stuff sold as (allegedly) chocolate, were seriously lacking!

roadside cookies at what? a gas station? The only mass produced cookies that might be impressive and not just meh. .. are girl scout cookies (like chocolate mint etc) or oreo's.

chocolate chip cookies tend to only be good if they're fresh baked. the mass produced kind are entirely different tasting and feeling and mostly garbage.

most of what makes up soft cookies doesn't translate well to mass production - the correct ingredients dont last for long periods. hard cookies do better but things like sugar cookies are bland.

can't really go wrong with oreos and baking your own chocolate chip ones (even if using a kit).
