State of the Game

Well, that's a glaring misnomer...

when you consider the already smaller userbase of consoles in this genre of game, the added development work to support them, and then the 30% cut that console manufacturers take of the sales... i'm sure Fdev is falling over themselves to keep that playerbase happy.

I think their tactic, which works well at the customer service desk of a brick & mortar for "returns", is not going to get them any traction in this venue...I may be wrong though...OTOH the recent pre-engineered CG reward debacle of October/November 2021 could be giving them false hope....

I was about to bring attention to the very same thread. Sadly it appears to have fallen flat already, it could have benefitted from the convened wisdom of most of theposters in this thread... shame Mr Hat will have missed it
I'm not interested in giving them a hard time, they're already doing that to themselves...

Shame they have no product to return...

It would make me chuckle, a bit, if Frontier just upped and said consoles were getting no further development. The last gen are pretty much fully loaded even playing a noticably less detailed version of Horizons, and the current gen are still a bit like hen's teeth to buy (apart from the scalpers, naturally) so the take-up is miniscule in comparison to the last-gen userbase. Really, consoles are not in a good place for an expansion like EDO, unlikely to be worth playing on the old and too few to make a profit porting to the new.

Theoretically, only in the short term, but I believe they said no new consoles already anyway...
They already did say that it wasn't coming to the new generation, several times.
The interesting bit of David Braben's initial 'post that wasn't an apology' was that:
Only when we feel that the foundation of the PC release is solid, will we be able to re-lay our console roadmap on top.
He made it as simple as possible to understand, yet the tears just keep on flowing about being 'forgotten', when the circumstance that would permit further comment is still, apparently, a long way off! Although if U10 brings further improvements (and the promised Anti-Aliasing revamp) to EDO in the bits that are still flaky, it could well be in a state where the dedicated console development units could make something playable from it.
