State of the Game

Are a lawyer by any chance?
It's a dream job.

You make things up and fabricate stories for living, they even may be so absurd and unplausible,
that in any normal circumstances would only trigger a quick punch to your face as an answer,
but you have a special, protected playground for this, where instead of being punished for your impudence,
there are people who give you ranking/judge for this, and your client pays you a lot of money for this childish play.

If there is one thing I regret in my life, it may be that I realized all this too late, when I was already too lazy for a "career" change.
I always thought of law as essentially intellectual prostitution... but with less scruples and morals...

You see, the thing is : it won't work, because you missed some detail.

If you say things like this in court, you will be laughed at and judge will give you an extra punishment for contempt of court.

You need to hire a lawyer, he will tell exact the same thing, you will be acquitted.

There is no discussion here, no "why" and "how".
It's just the way it works, any fighting or criticizing this will be considered terrorism because it undermines fundamentals of our society, democracy and whatnots.

in the 3300's the only lawyers you need are bolted to your ship and activated by a trigger.

Ooo! Me too! Me too!

I think it was Aisling, in Hutton Orbital, with a... wait... hold on, what IS that thing? Is that a... oh god! I didn’t know they made them that long! And so many ribs for her pleasure!!
Steady there old fruit!

Dunno what it is about Aisling Duval that gets the boys so.... agitated...

I'm available as an 'expert' witness.

Depends on specialty IMO.
You can focus on representing "common joes" vs banks, corpos, state office etc. and be actually "almost saint" type of lawyer.
I guess everybody has his own ideas what clients will push you to the other end of moral balance.

the alternative to lawyers is whoever is the biggest dbag gets to do what they want.

With lawyers, it's just whoever has the most money. Which tends to be better...because at least their idea of doing what they want doesn't involve the kind of dystopia that that turns society into a bunch of tribes that talk like "Back in the before time ...that's the true true"

look at the cesspool that is attracted to Archon's power ...that's what happens when you get rid of lawyers. Sick. Gross

They're a necessary evil.

we're all adults here.. what? the game has been given a rating for tiny children?
Well who's absolutely stupid idea was that, in a game that has you solve all your problems by either killing the opposition or running away from people trying to kill you, trading slaves and drugs and weapons and encourages you to become a pirate or mercenary?
Oh...the same people who decided we needed to shunt all development efforts and money to adding a first person shooter to the game. well that tracks then.
