State of the Game

on a totally different issue - I'm quite impressed by the way in which Singapore explains and outlines their future covid strategy and how well they do the Q&A section. I just wonder why this is so much better done in Oceania than in other parts of the world.

They have a quite impressive vaccination rate as well - 85% - so they are doing something really right there.

It's easier with fewer people.
I was referring to how they communicate what they are doing and why they are doing it like that - and this doesn't depend on the amount of people listening to it.

A country like Singapore has not that high an amount of citizen - 5.7 million is not that many (but more people than in Scotland for example) - but they have a higher risk due to being that densely populated and being the travel hub in south-east Asia and Oceania. This is much like in Australia, where the majority of people live in or near just 5 cities.

Plus Singapore is far, far more strict at enforcement. They tell you what to do and you do it.
yeah, but that is an attitude people in Australia have as well - they mainly follow the advice of the government, couldn't say that there is much of an enforcement required, but we surely have higher penalties, if orders aren't followed (like for example during social distancing in tassie - 1000 dollars first offense standing too near to each other, 2nd offense 16800 dollars, 3rd offense taken into custody) - I think that is a matter of those quite good briefings the public gets about what is done and planned by the government, so people are more likely to comply. Afaik there were just 97 offenses against social distancing and travel restrictions in Tassie in April/May last year - since then we are covid-free. So is our government doing a great job? - certainly, they take good care of us and we follow their orders, simple as that.

you see, this attitude that governmental orders would be a matter of interpretation and you could arbitrarily decide to follow or ignore them, is the really weird attitude, not that rules are enforced, that is how it should be - a community just works, if nearly all follow the rules - this is not an individual choice, if you break the law, that's criminal.

Microwaved burger sandwiches are dirty and wrong, but at a Pot Noodle level are also so right too. Casino near me have boxes of 'loaded fries' and other crazy frozen things that I'm going to munch the crap out of when the kids and wife are in Paris.

Saying that though, I will be cleansing my soul of the filth by making BK from scratch too.

Its going to be a fun couple of days, and I might come back here....changed.
