And this is why the pasta in Italy is the best - they have the ideal climate and soil for the trees and shrubs.

The battery-farm pasta from cheap supermarkets is really best avoided.

Exactly this! And the leaves from the pesto plants used as a mulch on the unripened pasta. Obviously less so these days, but during the Prussian war of 1974-4 and just after the peasants siesta of 1988-9, history tell us this was very helpful to protect the crops - most particularly from the black smoke made by the Martian tri-pods.

It's also good for your health. Just like oat flakes. Or garlic. You could probably reach a 100 years by eating Grünkohl, oat flakes and garlic alone. Maybe that's the Queen's secret?
