State of the Game

I hated how they are handling not having Alex about, its tiresome as well as a waste of storytelling time after S5 and the excessive Naominess. They should have kept Bull (because he's got actual presence) and lessened the animosity as its a distraction. Before I watched the new episode I rewatched S5 E10 and it was jarring how Peaches being let on the ship was almost a comedic moment with Holdens face.

I miss Jared Harris, because I'd love him to be against Marco- Marco has the charisma but Dawes has the brains, and seeing how they fall out like they did in the book would be an excellent Ceres B story material.

But I'll give it the benefit of the doubt but it makes me wince a bit watching. Its not bad, but its not really treating its lack of runtime with the urgency it demands.

They've been killing Free Navy for 160 days and have not managed to iron out their differences in all that time. Also, yea it's jarring that Peaches was introduced as a comedic moment and the only one who seems to still have an issue with it is Naomi.

Also not really happy with the so yea I killed Dawes throw away line we got from Inaros.

They really should've spent more time establishing Marcos as a narcissistic sociopath instead of spending most of last season while him pouting because his son still loved his mummy. They made some headway in the first episode with him basically saying frack you to Ceres station but this is a 6 episode season and he'll die in the 6th episode probably.

I think IMO the writers focus on the wrong things, not only because they are trying to compress an awful lot of emotional development into too small a space. For example they duplicated the Roci angst with Drummer- now, they could have stripped one back and used that time for more important things.

Hopefully Filips arc resolves sooner and not at the end (after all he walks away and takes his mums name) too, because once again the emotional stuff eats up time.

Will have Book 9 tomorrow so I can at least calm down a bit.

Yea I can't say I'm even remotely interested in Filips arc.

I kind of wished they'd get Filip to go in the first episode really, because then it would set up Marcos descent into instability and desperation.

I'm more intrigued at how they will resolve / park the 'big picture' story with the ring aliens / Laconia.

But we will see.

I'm not even going to bother with S4.

I wonder if the Witcher will be better in S2, or the Wheel of Time?
To be honest I haven't watched Witcher and I'm meh about Wheel of Time, although I may give it a look. I hardly watch any TV these days, which makes it even more hilarious that I do watch something as risible as Disco. I use it an an easy way to get a big chunk of my loathing of humanity out of the way in a handy bite-sized portion each week.

I tried the Expanse. I think I managed three or four episodes before deciding that the ploy of making every character 'ambiguous' means that I really don't care for any of them.

As an aside it seems clear to me that Servalan is a Cylon and that Leia and Hann are related, and that River really needs a holiday to get a tam, poor girl.

I may have been drunk.
