Steam figures = LOL (but still...)

Yeah, I agree there; sorry I was unclear. I meant that in 4 years time those still bothering to play on any regular basis will have bought at least one upgrade - the cost of planetary landings may be a bit high for some right now (or, like me, they just don't feel they've got bored of the base game and need to pay for extra yet) but if there's nothing new that entices them by year 5 it's probably because they don't want to play Elite any more.

Oh okay yeah I can agree with that, sorry for misunderstanding your point.

I think you'll find most of the "old timers from 1984 that are rather fanatical about the game" will buy each season as it comes out. We understand (somewhat) the work that goes into this and want to see the game continue. We also remember wanting to be paid for our work. And I'm not even one of the 1984'ers. I started in '92 or '93 with Elite Plus.

Lol 35% user score and I think its about right. Horizons is such a let down. 61k owners after 6 weeks aint great either, the original ED has over 600k owners. FD need to realise the majority think this game is going down the wrong road!

Where's your data that proves that "the majority" think that? Actually, nevermind... it's irrelevant because the players don't get to decide that in the first place. The game belongs to Frontier, so they decide, and I'm sure it's going exactly where they intend for it to go. Disagree with FD? Go play something else, I'm sure they won't stop you.

The majority of 'what'/'who', Elite original has: 65% positive on steam, horizon 72%, so yeah.

It all depends on where you ask, steam on that point is significantly better then steamspy in terms of sample size, but even then it is not the whole community, heck the forum only has like around 60-70k users last we could see the user list, which has been disabled for some reason, which means there are an enormous amount of people out there, that don't use the official forums.

So yeah, if you go over to a group of people that generally don't enjoy games like Elite, then they are going to score it low, go to those that enjoy games like elite and it will score high.

And guess what? there's more then enough gamers out there that enjoy elite for frontier to be doing well, so yeah, it seems the only point in such topics as this is to claim to point out something that doesn't hold true in the real world, to try to put something down that people themselves don't enjoy, as long as Frontier is earning money enough to keep going, and they are happy with their profit, guess what? then the game is doing well.

A game doesn't need to sell like CoD or similar levels each year to be successful, heck I can't wrap my head around why people keep buying that series, but people do? does that mean i should stop all over it pointing out obvious flaws? only to get told by those that enjoy it that I am 'clearly' wrong because it has gotten a high score/review or such?

Nope, all of that, user score, reviews whatnot, are subjective opinions, and that's good and fine, but the whole attitude with "this game only got a 7 our of 10, it is the worst game ever" really needs to go away, its just...yeah. And happening to many many more games, that maybe are not targeting a big audience as some games do, but is more niche?

"the majority"

Yup Scarmax, I totally agree(d) with you:

ofc ED owners are more than EDH. From my personal view, crafting and other goodies of Horizons (apart from planetary landings) should be a part of ED and not EDH. But the most important of all, you can't expect us to pay 50-60 dollars for EDH, only 1 year after the release of the original game, (which costed the same amount), which feels still totally in development, lacking meaningful content, with countless new or reappearing bugs...

I will personally buy horizons on generous sale, like 15-20 euros or smthg. Not before than. Not in a hurry at all! After all my computer doesn't support Horizons in the first place...so I need to upgrade the computer first and then buy it in an Easter or Summer sale.

That's a pretty good option, much better than buying it now and complain all year long.
I think a lot of people who are complaining expected Horizons to be finished, feature wise. They don't understand it is for a full year of content, which means Horizons now and what it will be at the end of the year is going to be really different.

Also, most people either love or hate this game. I'm not surprised a lot of folks have moved on to some other game.
