Steam Support

I think its going to be like minecraft their own client for the alpha. It wont be a .zip file because people can easily pirate the game.

Steam means more ease and better multiplayer support and better modding support with steam workshop

i hope it comes to steam and we dont need our own DRM like some kind of uplay

Am I the only one who doesn't care if it is avalable on Steam? [haha]

nah, not the only one [haha][haha][haha]

Me neither. Talking of Steam, it's time to put the kettle on for a brew! [haha]

Nope. I don't care either. Though I realize some people will appreciate it.

I think Frontier can come up with a self developed system for online functionality of Planet Coaster. If they want it, they don't need Steam for it. They can make something even better, if they want it. We'll see if the functionality will be available in the Alpha, or that we will be surprised with it on a later moment in time. [haha]

I was leary about getting into Steam, when I started on it (maybe a year ago ... I don't know) ... but there are parts I love about it.

I love that I do not have to keep track of discs or game links and such, to have access to the games I've purchased.

Usually around once every two years something sneaks on to my computer that is bad enough that cleaning it up just doesn't seem to work, and the best option is to wipe the entire system and start over again. And then it is a big hassle to manage to find the discs for all of my old, beloved games, and manage to reload them again. With Steam, all I have to do is manage to remember one name and password or what-have-you, and I instantly (well, nearly) have access to all my games again ... or at least all that are on Steam.

RCT3, I bought a copy from Atari's online store something like 6 years ago. And every year or two, I would have to pull out the online installer from the e-mail I received it in, and reinstall. And that was fine ... until a year ago, when it would no longer work. Thankfully, either Atari or Frontier (I'm not sure which, I contacted both) was kind enough to throw me a Steam key for it, and I'm still able to reload and play one of my favorite games.

Other games that I already own (Railroad Tycoon, Tropico), I gladly buy again, if I run across an inexpensive bundle with them in it, just so that I have that easy access.

So understand, I like several things about Steam, and do hope to eventually have PC on Steam, for easier reinstallation ... but if Frontier wants to keep some of their content themselves, to make it available to a wider audience, I have no problems with that, whatsoever! More power to 'em! Steam is neither the enemy, nor your (as a game developer) dearest friend ... they are another company with which to do business with, with all the positives and negatives that always entails!

For the longest time I resisted Steam (WAY back in its early days). Trusting digital distribution was a dangerous road versus having a "physical" CD/DVD copy picked up from a local GameStop in my opinion back then. Fast forward now and I think my Steam Library is up to 120+ and minus Fallout 4 as a XMAS present this past year I can't remember the last time I've picked up a "physical" copy of a game.

I like having CD copies of games, brings some memory. But I much prefer online as well, as it's always going to be there, unless you don't have internet, but besides that. I love having Online copies, If anything. I'd support having BOTH.

+1 for Steam support... Not only will the modding community for assets be huge, but possibly others, including downsampling mods, color correction mods, etc. There's no reason why they can't sell via Steam AND their own store. I for one am hoping to play the game at 2560*1600 downsampled to 1920*1200 along with as many mods as needed. Even coasters might get updates... I mean have you noticed the blockiness on some of them? I'd love to have see some mods to smoothen them out....

Steam support is gonna push the game to a whole extra gen of quality, and will make them far more money from the Steam installbase, than the 30% they save by selling on their own store.

5 days to go and Rollercoaster Tycoon World will be released in early acces on steam, i hope Planet Coasters will soon join on steam also.
In the end i am gonna buy both games because i prefer my games on a community platform like steam.
I heard about Planet Coasters on steam forum for the first time, so without steam i wouldn't even know this game existed thats how powerfull it is.
Good luck with the game.

To be honest the only reason in Havant got the alpha is because its not on steam, I have always thought that steam is the best way to get people on board especially if the game is as good as this, also it makes updating it so much easier.

Same here. I guess the reason why they do this is to avoid early negative reviews

Possibly, personally i think it would work in their favour, as so many games have worked well on early access, and im sure this would be one of them, its had so much coverage and so many good reviews i dont think people would say bad things about it. Also when i first heard about the game the first thing i did was look it up on steam i didn't think about googleing it.

I'm subscribed to krealis not sure if it's spelt correctly on YouTube he does Minecraft and City Skylines videos he sounds real nice and does good videos. He did a video of this game and it made me want to get it too. Actually Google is set as my home page on IE. I decided first to Wikipedia Planet Coaster and it lead me to the official site. Nothing wrong with getting it direct from the game developer without going through 3rd parties. Steam confirmed does not have it. According to Wikipedia the game is not scheduled to release until Q4 2016. Sunday just gone I pre-ordered the game with the alpha version so I could play it now rather than wait a whole year pretty much. One thing I like with this site is the forum pages have a padlock on the address bar so it's good to Frontier take into consideration some security on this site.

i dont mind if they dont use steam workshop i hope they sel it on steam after launch if they dont do it i wil not be able to play Planet Coaster bekous the Frontier Store have no paysafecard option to buy the game
and i want to buy it with paysafecard sow i hope they sel it on steam after launch and one more thing i dont need mods bekous mods can break your game and it can make the game unstable
