IMPORTANT: Steam Workshop Update regarding your Blueprints

Thanks Bo!

I have one question:
Will all our previously saved parks work ok with BETA?

Also, thank you for the announcement of the BETA Date on 9th November! My Birthday [heart][big grin][big grin][big grin][up]

All our parks will be safe and will carried over to Beta and full release. We don't need to worry about that.

Any blueprint that appears the "My Blueprints" tab in your game will also be safe. It just means that you'll have to re-upload them back onto the Workshop after Beta launch. It all seems like a ball-ache at the moment, but if it's for the reason I think it is, we'll all benefit.

I've found the folder where the game stores the blueprints that I made that are under the "My Blueprints" tab. But I can't find any of the blueprints that I've subscribed to that other people made that are listed in "My Blueprints". Are the blueprints that have been downloaded (subscribed to) stored locally on my hard drive? My concern is that the blueprints I like to use may not be re-uploaded by the original author and they will disappear from "MY Blueprints" tab.

Hi shyguy, the blueprints that you have subscribed to from the workshop are not saved locally.

I can understand your concern, and my advice would be to place your favourite subscribed blueprints into an empty park. You can then create a new blueprint, this will then be saved locally.

This is a pain, but I did do this to make sure. Hopefully all the good work out there gets reposted so we will have access to subscribe to them in the future.

I figured as much, so I did just that and already saved all blueprints in an empty park. Thanks for your reply.[happy]

Are blueprints that came with the Alpha by default (i.e. BP's under "Coasters", "Shops/Facilities", "Scenery" and "Building") still going to be available in the Beta?

I'm confused - how would anyone not have saved blueprints like this? Is there some way to upload to Steam without first making it a 'local' blueprint? Pretty sure mine are fine, but I'm curious.

Also, will non-blueprint things like parks transfer over to the full game? (I assume yes, but I want to be sure)

After they upload them, they delete them from their system, then subscribe to them on the workshop. It keeps their "savedgames" folder cleaner and takes up less storage.

An yes, parks will transfer too as these are in the "savedgames" folder also

Days until beta

;-)

I'm not sure how this can work? Wouldn't this just save a copy in my alpha installation? It seems to be written for people to do BEFORE the game launched. When I switched from Alpha to the live game on launch day, Steam installed a completely different game on my computer, rather than using the same game installation.

It seems to me that downloading a blueprint from the Alpha workshop would put it in my Alpha game installation...and then building it, and then saving it in my Alpha game would just save the blueprint in my Alpha game installation files? And then uploading again would just upload to the Alpha workshop? I can't figure out where during this process it actually transfers the blueprints to the live game.

How do you get the files from Alpha to Live?
(I've already tried going into \Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\ and transfering the files from one game folder to the other. It doesn't seem to work, nothing appears when launching in the new game.)

I think this can still work if you have Alpha installed.

Only you have to manually copy the saved park file (you have to put your blueprints in a park I guess) to your released Planet Coaster version folder.

Didn't use it as all my Alpha work was just getting ready for the real deal.
