In today's show, we unpack an Elite: Dangerous filename list given to us by an anonymous source. Things we discovered:
  • The Panther Clipper
  • Mining Fighters
  • A Pilotable Alien Ship
  • Aquatic Landing Gear
  • Player Faction Decals
  • and much, much more!
To clarify: this is a list of filenames, not the contents of said files. We don't know what they contain or what the in-game resources look like. All we know is what they are internally called.
Our source has also included instructions on how to compile the filename list on your own. We have chosen not to do so, but you may proceed at your own risk.
We question: why is there so much untapped content that has been bouncing around the game files for years?

Thx (y)

Unrelated, I noticed you in a system far away from about anything called "Between".
That picked my interest, but I couldn't find anything about it... What's there?

Intriguing :)

Haven't had a chance to listen to the full thing yet, but definitely will.

Here's the FDev response from Reddit for anyone getting too piqued though ;)

When developing a game, especially one the size of a Galaxy, there is a lot of information and naming of files required into putting it all together. This certainly doesn't mean that everything you read in the files will make its way into the game. There are many reasons why these names may have been added over the years and it's important not to jump to conclusions when speculating about these files. To make sure that no one is given any misinformation and becomes disappointed, it's always best to wait for official news and announcements regarding all features and content.

Will frontier pull a 2k and send a couple of thugs to your door to explain to you that you need to shut up?

Isn't Glaive what they called that whacky weapon in the movie Krull?
