In a nutshell engineering is boring we all would much rather be playing the game,
But engineering IS part of playing the game. What do you mean by playing the game ?

What I ment is that they already have a sorting system they ( fdev) would just need to apply it to storage. All the modules you buy are sorted already. They have a filtering system for stored modules? Great! I'm not near the game at the moment to see if I can figure out how I missed it. Could you tell me where it is?
There is no reason you shouldn't be able to buy four hulls for different jobs.I'm courious about this. Let's say that i want to use Krait MK2 only. For what reason i should not buy four of them and specialize each one of them for different roles instead ? I don't think it's a credit problem right ?
a small tiny part which is a distraction away from what i come on the game to actually enjoyBut engineering IS part of playing the game. What do you mean by playing the game ?
But if you have different engineered modules for the same ship you spend the exact time to engineer them, and you have to spend more time swapping them too. I mean, i engineer thrusters for exploration ships in a different way from combat ships. Only thing that one could use an all ships regardless of role is FSD ( maybe ).
Apart from that, i don't find engineering boring.. you have material traders, just gather G5 stuff while doing whatever other activities you are doing and voilà, zero problem. We even have remote engineering...
No, it isn't. It's grind to get the powercreep up so you can shoot the bulletsponges in a reasonable amount of time like we all enjoyed before the power creep. But engineering IS part of playing the game. What do you mean by playing the game ?

No argument - more storage could be useful...Many, many times I have said the same thing. It is important that we get more than those 120 + some sensible management system. Current system is just a massive(and purely artificial) restriction for any players who have a variety of builds.
I have posted threads about it, spoke about it many times.
Problem is the ppl from a "certain part of the community" usually post something like, and I got LOADS of this :
"How can anyone possibly need more than 120 modules? Get rid of all that junk(Junk=G5 Engineered combat-oriented modules). Just not needed. My 10000MJ shield cutter with all turreted weapons can survive against anything in a solo cg so what do you need all that for? Just get rid of it and keep the 120. You just dont need it.".
Really just a case of a "certain part of the community" wanting revenge through the forums for what they cannot perform in the game. Deliberate throw some salt into PvP/open players game/experience yet again for no good reason by encouraging Devs to ignore features we need. It is something that would benefit them also but that does not matter. Seen a lot of this kind of schadenfreude in the recent premium ammo thread also.
Added to that, there are a significant number of PP related modules, that cannot be just bought if needed. Those modules alone factored by the different, reasonable engineering upgrades can fill the current storage limit easily.Well, the math here does not work. We have 38 playable ships and only 120 module storage available, which will give you the ability to store 3.15 modules per ship.
So, storage capacity of modules should be based on a multiple of the number of ships in the game.
I did not go through each ship and count modules, but if we average 10 modules per ship multiplied by 38 ships, Frontier should offer a minimum capacity to store 380 modules.
I would say if Frontier offered storage of 400 modules, that would be adequate for the number of ships offered in the game now.
GEEZ
Buy more ships.
Ships are cheap, engineered A rated modules are not.
We are aware of the workaround, obviously. But as you have noticed yourself, managing modules within the current system is already unnecessarily intricate. Storage ships make the management even worse, because if it weren't for INARA, be prepared to either maintain your own spreadsheet (yay, this game "isn't about spreadsheets") or wast a lot of time switching ships, watching animations, checking sub menus of an sub menu to get the information you want.500 to 1000 module storage? That's hilarious.
Most peeps can't stand it now at 120 and want some kind of filter and you want to sort thru 1000 modules?
I get more than 50 and start selling, even if it's engineered.
Of course then you would want weapon type, module type, a thru e rated and engineered g1 thru g5 folders and filters.
I can see FD never dealing with that, but ya never know.
Exploration ships are a little different but even so lightweight sensors, life support & DSS feature on practically all of my builds bar PVP, all of which rely on module storage and get interchanged otherwise i would waste time harvesting more materials to build more modules with the same modification just to avoid switching them (which takes like a minute)
material traders help for sure, and so does remote engineering, but for a player who explores the galaxy or mines rocks, those G5 materials arnt just going to pop up by just "playing the game" nor is any manufactured material of any grade for that matter, yet there are countless mods which benefit these playstyles.
of course combat is the most effected play style by engineering and you can gather mats by stopping what your doing and watching collectors for 2/3 mins after each kill, its a bit of a downer in the middle of a dog fight... you're there sat collecting the mats while another ships gets annihilated by pirates 6k away
if they deleted engineering and deleted premium ammo the galaxy would be a better place, my only slight gripe would be the FSD blueprint, but for the greater good i would give it up.Actually engineering is the definition of doing the same things repeatedly lel.
And the reward? You get to play the game again without being relegated to pea-shooters because power creep.
I'd have nothing against it being scrapped. Should get rid of premium ammo too.
This game isn't balanced at all. Honestly it's the single worst attempt at balance I've ever seen. This is in no small part due to the fact that the game was balanced before engineering.
It's very good fun indeedif they deleted engineering and deleted premium ammo the galaxy would be a better place, my only slight gripe would be the FSD blueprint, but for the greater good i would give it up.
me and a few Xbox friends have a non engineered PVP thing going on and its fantastic!
Rules;
Any ship
No double optional or utilities module stacking (i.e 1xHRP only, not filling your hold with them, this includes shield boosters)
No Ramming
No Guardian
No engineering (of course)
No premium ammo
No synth
so far its been some of the most fun PVP!

There isn't really much to understand.I don't really understand this way of thinking, really. It's just another activity to do so you can avoid doing always the same things to me. But to each is own i guess.
ED is a sandbox i have plenty to do i aint got time for engineering and ive been here 4yrs & 6 million LY!And what exploring is ? And mining ? Cargo loops ? Bounty hunting ?
All these are repetitive tasks. Do anything of these exclusively for enough time and you'll be bored to death, i think. At least that happens to me.
So how do you expanse ED life span ? Do all these activities, one at a time, mixing them up. Try every available activity, take every mission, and while doing all of this, hunt for materials while doing them. And then, sometimes, bring some of your ships to an engineer.
Doing things this way keeps away the boredom, at least for me. Done this way, engineering does not add to the boredom, but helps staying away from it.
