Store Icon Protest

Before this update several times i stopped myself from buying paint jobs because i didnt like the direction of the game and the updates.

Occasionally my will power would lapse and i would end up with a paint job for my FDL or corvette, but since they put this arx scam in place i dont think i will buy anything else, the transaction is just too complicated and i like to know up front what im paying for something.

So maybe your right in thinking that, but pre arx i did sometimes make an impulse buy.

Arx is not a scam, this is how MMOs operate now. It's either in game purchases or they hit everyone with a monthly charge to play on the servers. They are a company and they do need to make a profit. And they are not as bad as some that I could mention.

All these people saying " We are better than the general public.". I wonder if those that support ARX or dehumanize those who don't appreciate the system also support lootboxes.

Is rather a subscription over duplicitous marketing. But also remember this game was started on the premise of an offline single player game.

Really? Well keep me posted by pm as the exchange rates between arx and real currency fluctuate, because you can bet FD wont be making that info readily available.
It will only fluctuate if the Arx amounts or the price of item goes up or down. It's not rocket science.

But i think you are right in implying that arx is for people who are bad at math.
I didn't imply anything. I said it was simple maths, so anyone with a very basic knowledge of maths should be able to work it out.

It is not for people that are bad at maths, it's for people that want to buy cosmetics.

i mean...if you REALLY wanted to protest, you'd just not play the game. but forum icons are cool. if you really REALLY wanted to protest you'd chain yourself to the light pole outside the Cambridge Science Park, but i'm pretty sure protesting isn't allowed like it is in the US (freedom to peaceably assemble and what not...)

and at the risk of sounding like a troll, and lets be clear this is just blissful ignorance, but why are are people so triggered over this? What modern MMO doesn't plug their freemium cosmetics store? yikes guys, the amount of in this thread is unbearable. Can't we just ignore this like we do the massive injustices being committed in the world? I think at this point FDEV is well aware that the placement of the "Store" button was not the best and i wouldn't doubt a hotfix could be released. I also wouldn't count on it, but i consider myself somewhat an optimist.

You'd think the thread in the suggestions thread about the store button would be blowing up.....oh wait

FINAL Fantasy 14, a standard subscription based MMO has cosmetic and "convenience items" (euch..). They are paid for in dollar value and it is kept out of game UI.

So they seperate the paints from packs, raise the price of some things, let you get the currency free. Its not a scam, they let you get things free now, how were they supposed to let you get free stuff without the new currency ? Pay you in real money ? ;)

I have nothing against Arx, it no better or worse then the old system. They both have their pros and cons.

Loot boxes though, I detest. But as Fdev have nothing like loot boxes in the game I have no issues.

Is there an issue with lootboxes in Elite: Dangerous? I appear to have missed them...

Nope, not yet. This is a great foundation to start them should they think the risk is okay in the changing climate.

I'm not saying there are lootboxes in Elite, I'm saying that those that support lootboxes use the same reasoning that those supporting ARX are.

Are you suggesting we are not allowed to protest?
I'll have you know we love protesting so much we voted to leave the EU just so we could protest about leaving.

How precisely?
I fully support Arx in ED as I can earn them just by playing and am not gambling with them for any item that may or may not exist, nor am I being blackmailed into buying them as the next cosmetic I buy with them may be somethng different to that I bought...

Lootboxes are accepted as a gamble - there is nothing in the Arx implementation that could possibly be interpreted that way.

But why be concerned how others may be influenced (or not) by Arx, instead be concerned how they directly influence you, and if you find some area of concern perhaps consider not registering a payment method in order to protect yourself.
