Store Icon Protest

Can't browse the Arx store at an outpost that doesn't have Outfitting. How does that work? Why's that a thing?
Why is livery still unavailable docked at a non-Outfitting station when I can go back to the main menu and change my livery there?

The inconsistency in this update just doesn't make sense.

Ah yes, the "everyone else does it" defence. A classic! I do love that one.

This is just normal now, so stop complaining about it.

The fact it would have been utterly reprehensible in the recent past doesn't matter, just get on the bus!

Times change.

It's not all bad though. We don't separate schools based on race anymore and I've heard very flattering things about evolution lately.

I dislike the store icon on the main station services menu and I shall never click on it from there. Whilst I would much prefer it removed, making it orange will, at least, make it ignorable.

I don't spend my time in the Elitian Universe to buy ARX, I spend it there to fly spaceships and sometimes I buy paint jobs or weapon colours or ... something and I buy them from Livery. Now, when I go to buy a paint job it'll tell me the in-game arx price and I can dip outside the game to buy some if I so choose. It makes in-game sense to do it there, but to have a store to buy arx then have to go to livery to have my ship painted? ... it does not make sense, not game wise.

I am quite sure the marketing people said to do this and, being marketing people, were persuasive enough to get this blue icon added to the station menu, but it's those same marketing people that don't seem to understand the depth of feeling long time Cmdrs have for this game.

As I have said to people: I don't play Elite because it is a game, I play this game because it is Elite.

FDev, Please, make it Elite again.

Bolding mine:

Hmm... now I'm hungry.

In all seriousness, though, it kind of grinds my gears that Fdev pushed out probably one of the smoothest updates yet and even did something explicitly pro-customer (as much as they could while retaining the revenue income) and the literally only downside of all this is the icon in station menu and yet people still whine.

The exercise is left to the student.

Hmmm..... are there any big spenders out there that own everything in the store? I'm curious to know if you have an orange store icon?

I noticed today that everything in the store that I haven't purchased has a blue background/outline, and that every thing I have purchased has an orange background/outline.

Is the blue store icon supposed to be a visual "clue" that our store collection is not yet complete?

I laughed so hard when this occurred to me that I fell out of my cockpit.

Wow, youze guys get all freaky about a li'l blue button but are just hunky-dory with gawdawful, grotesque, eye-sickening LENS FLARES smeared all over your Universe?!?
Sheesh!
OK, I agree, the blue button is crass and really bad art direction (so is lens flares btw), but I'll keep my Beaker avvie, just pretend he's screaming "MAKE IT ORANGE!" Not too hard a stretch, that, eh?

In what sense?
I don't believe how many people I previously considered reasonable are jumping onto this bandwagon.

Frontier made the liveries free - earnable by playing the game. And they closed their online store, which has been their only source of income.
Don't you think it's only fair that they've put a reminder in the game that you can also support them by buying the stuff?

It's not that they put the reminder in - it's the way they designed it. It stands out like a sore thumb every time you go into the station menu. Resetting it to the same colour as the two icons left and right of it would be an acceptable compromise for me. Moving all three into the appropriate subsections would be my preference. Putting it into the main menu in a contrasting colour - also acceptable.

Or, like someone else quoted someone else a few days ago in a discussion about Point Defense: "You were supposed to fire a shot across their bows, not shove it up their nose."

Im serious. I actually hate that Blue icon. It makes me unhappy to see it.
Its the start of more to come i have no doubt.
Personally I don't mind the icon. I have no issues with a store that you can buy paint jobs for your ship and clothing for your commander in station services, if anything it kinda makes sense. I just don't like the blue. Make it the same colour as everything else and it's all fine in my view.

I now have 12 ARX, after two days. The Earth Bobblehead is 6450 ARX. It will take 1,075 days to buy it, at 6 ARX per day of active play. That's 2.9 years.

My thanks to all of those gentle persons, saying I should be grateful for the "free" ARX.

Oh my, what did I do.
The avatar thing was a light-hearted joke done in some free minutes.

And this thread is priceless... from both sides.

But I have a question: does the blue avatar mean you are on the "blue button" side?

You can buy the Earth in small pieces.

Start with your country.

:D

Have you fellas considered that if the store button was orange you'd be equally outraged at the fiendish tricksy "stealth store".

I've got 140 (and a thargoid bobblehead) from a couple of hours of casual BH'ing and BGS missions. 400 a week seems easy. You just need to git-gud.
