Stupid games.

You could have asked Universities to fill in the details. Yet you didn't do a thing. You had the opportunity to expand this game to challenge physics.

You had the opportunity to really let people know about what surrounds us. You could have had a gold mine. Idiots.

A gold mine? Do you really think, a that 100% realistic game would sell better?

Moved to suggestions and feedback.

Thanks for the errr sorta feedback I guess. ;)

If you cant produce a game - a game that solely relies on mechanics in a pre designed universe. Then just get out. You can't do your job. I often wondered if NMS could pull it off, and you know what? They did a bloody brillant job.
And a far more impressive job that you lot did. You could have asked Universities to fill in the details. Yet you didn't do a thing. You had the opportunity to expand this game to challenge physics.

You had the opportunity to really let people know about what surrounds us. You could have had a gold mine. Idiots.

The question will remain the same. How did so few people manage to make a total embarrassment of your RNG skills?

Can you imagine an astronomer using FD as his main tool? Nope. But he can get exited about the rough realizations. And that is why FD cannot fail. It started as a game, but yet is one of the main visionary tools to explore our locality. Please go ahead and PUNCH this game so it becomes a reality. Please.

You realize that NMS is a massive grind of game, the multiplayer as we have in ED is non existent, still yes is a beautiful game and i like it but don't compare.

Yeah, it's an exaggerated reaction, but he's right about NMS.

In 2 years Hello Games developed and improved a lot No Man's Sky, much more than Frontier did with Elite, they revised and introduced a lot of new tools and new game loops.

Elite instead proceeded very slow. It's not developers fault. David Braben moved everyone on other projects so there was not enough manpower to produce quality DLC for Elite.

I would say that probably, considering the few people that remained on the Elite project, they even made an excellent job considering the low manpower.

I just hope that more devs will join the Elite team so that they can finally start to produce high quality stuff.

I wish people would stop comparing FD and HG, the scenarios are entirely different! Hello Games had two options (and only two), do nothing and close the company because their player count was down to the 100's after the disastrous release OR work their collective butts off to improve the game. Luckily for the company, they took the latter option. But FD are not in that situation, they have maintained a healthy and solid player base throughout the life of the game, there hasn't been a need for them to stop all other efforts to save the game from cyber scrap heap!

Yes HG should be congratulated for saving the company, but to compare what they HAD TO DO, to what FD are doing which is maintaining their project schedule is just wrong.

No. FD have not maintained a healthy base. They have maintained a base that is designed to strip us of money. Their "storyline" is pathetic. It's so crap that Drew Wagner folded when he realized that he had to write a crap story for the likes of this drivel. My own rants and imaginative drivel were so far beyond this crap it beggars belief. Any designer knowing the stars would appreciate that. They would hide clues in navigation. These idiots know nothing. Drew is gone and Braben still doesn't know how to make a game.

Is the Op having a tantrum? I rather have frontier take time and make things right. Then have another Alpha game for years and years.

What was that I read about NMS recently? Oh yes, 30 hours of play and the games finished. There are people on ED with hundreds and even thousands of hours play, just wondering which game is doing it right. According to the OP most players should just try ED for a few hours, find out how bad it is, quit and go to NMS.

Oh well, oh yes just read that steam reviews for NMS have gone from mostly negative to mixed in July this year, so apparently it hasn't caught up to ED on steam reviews yet, but appears to be improving, good luck to them I say, there's no reason why ED should be the only space game, there's plenty of room.

One persons opinion doesn't make a game, I think we should just look at it that way, there are games I tried and didn't really like at all, I didn't feel the need to post on the forums, I think as long as ED attracts passionate players it can't really go that far wrong.

Well that prevent me from playing NMS. 30 Hours and your done. Lame.

We only get partail review from Steam about Elite because not everyone has Steam.

Agree. Rep +1

If you don't like ED, you are completely free to go play something else (like NMS). You could ask for a refund, but you probably won't get it if you've played more than 10 hours. However I suspect that you have played significantly more than 10 hours, so I'll ask you to compare how much time you have put into ED to how much time you have put into other similarly priced games. I suspect that ED will seem like money well spent in comparison.

Anyways, on to your complaints. I'm not exactly sure what it is you want (you didn't give any specifics), so I'm just going to assume that you want everything (Atmos, legs, complete overhaul of game mechanics, etc...) since most posts like yours are asking for some combination of these. You are not entitled to have any and all aspects of the game changed, bent and broken to meet your expectations. Yes, a sizable portion of what you want will probably get added to ED at some point, but it won't be because you demanded it. FDev puts out new content for ED because it makes them money. They do not do it for you and you alone. They do it for as many people as possible in order to maximize their target audience and potential revenue.

While I'm at it, I will say that the tone you used in your post could use some work. If you are going to ask someone to do something for you, it would be wise not to insult them before you make your request. If I worked for FDev, I would look at your rants in this thread, notice that you did not once give ANY kind of constructive criticism and instead decided to call me and my co-workers idiots and act like an all-round entitled princess, and would ignore everything that you post for at least the next few months. If you are going to give some kind of feedback, at least TRY to be constructive and make a suggestion as to how the game could be improved.

As my grandmother used to say, "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything".

Oh how i do love these kinds of rants, feel free to employ over a 100 people and design your own game and we can all judge how your game turns out, i do so love these airheads that call themselves gamers that we get today :D

hello games did it, he doesn't have to prove nothing, it has been proven; or at least demonstrated.

What was that I read about NMS recently? Oh yes, 30 hours of play and the games finished. .

Sandbox games give you the world in which it's based and tools/toys to play with, when I say tools/toys, that could be anything from a space ship:eek: or block:O, to multiple things within the game to play with[yesnod]. Some sandbox games give more than others;), some rely on the world in which you play inside the game, to be your main interest, others will provide more. Depends on what the game is about, what they (devs) believe is enough for the players to -- 'make their own game up'--, with.

Linear type story lines tend to be thrown into sandbox games, either as training/tutorials, or for players that have.. err.. less imagination[where is it], lets say.
It's o.k. to have less imagination, just move on to the next game. But I would say your probably wasting your money buying sandbox type games if, after running the story line, you think your done with the game. The story line was never the game.....[woah]

Players should ask themselves, why do you jump into your ship in ED and fly out into space.. Is it to follow the story line the devs supplied..
Or is it to follow your own story line, the one your own imagination gave you.. Mines the latter..

Sandbox games are not general games, they rely on the player to have a good imagination.

Plus NMS & ED should not be compared really. They are very different games.
:D
Both good in their own ways, I should add. Plus they're sandbox type games i.e. imagination required.
