Yes exactly those conditions, I had referenced that finding in another stuttering thread as well. Thanks for getting a video of it up!

I'm not sure what you mean by "conventional" but default SLI in NV Control Panel is set to "auto select" which assigns PhysX to GPU #2. Putting PhysX on the CPU is not standard. I can't say what's going on with your rig, but PhysX on the CPU is going to be a big performance hit in general IF PhysX is even supported by the title you are playing. CPUs are not specialized to handle PhysX. That being said it is interesting you have no stutters when removing PhysX from GPU #2 and forcing CPU in the Control Panel.
Honestly I'm not even sure ED supports Physx (couldn't confirm/deny in searching). Only a few titles out there do. There are many more titles out there that do not use it as opposed to the ones that do.
Hmmm I cant wait to try this when I get home, I reduced the stutter on my SLI 980 system by turning off vsync. It reduces the severity but its still there. But now I get tearing which I hate even more. I Have Friday off so was going to do more experimenting with the Nvidia settings this weekend.
The drops in frames whilst sitting docked are almost certainly networking related. Players joining/leaving the instance.

Some things to try from the IL2 Cliffs of Dover forum -

And this is a fix that removed stutter from my FSX installation - this actually originates from the simraceway.com forums:
STEP #1
1. click on windows key / start menu
2. in the search field type and run: msconfig
3. click on the services tab, and search "multimedia class scheduler". uncheck the checkbox
4. if unchecked, click ok. when asked, DON'T restart your system. do STEP #2 before restarting !
(also, you can go through the "startup" tab's list, If you have something that isn't necessary to start with windows bootup, you can take them out easily here. this can save boot time and memory, too)
STEP #2
1. click on windows key / start menu
2. in the search field type and run: regedit
3. on the left side open the following path: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SYSTEM > CurrentControlSet > services > AudioSrv
4. click on AudioSrv, and on the right side of the window there will be a list, search and doubleclick "DependOnService"
5. after you opened the little window, DELETE the "MMCS" part. only that part, leave the other 2 alone.
6. if you deleted it, click OK and restart your computer.
ACHTUNG ! you need to go through both step 1 and step 2 in order to fully disable this little imp !
I gladly help anyone who needs it, just drop some letters and I'll reply.
Stutters are the plague of all sim software and maybe this will help somebody.
Yes it is definitely macro stutter I am experiencing. stutter is something quite different. This is an obvious pause. Maybe my fibre network is too fastIn case anybody would like to read up on "The History of stutter as pertaining to the game Elite: Dangerous" (I could write a book LOL)...
This is the "main" bug thread that most of us in the Stutter Club (TM) have been using: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=120331 (there are some comments by FD staff in this thread). This refers to the "big stutter" or "macro-stutter" - as far as I can tell most people in this thread are referring to this type of stutter as opposed to "micro-stutter", which is a different animal.
If you would like to read more or are having trouble sleeping then PM me and I can send links to other threads. I have also been keeping note of all comments by FD staff on this topic.
