Subnautica

The Sea Dragon Leviathan has arrived to ruin your underpants!

Come across it earlier. Wandering around the lava biome with my PRAWN. It's nasty. I found my first crimson ray down there too. I actually enjoyed finding that more.

The crab squid things are brutal now though. They have an EMP pulse or something that temporarily knocks out your seamoth. The thing is strong enough to completely destroy your seamoth quite quickly as well, and they're generally at depths where swimming to the surface isn't an option if your ride gets totaled.

I really really hope they add mod support for this game on final release.

Things are really coming together...less than three months until the current release window.

Spoiler warning: Story elements included in video.

Does anyone know whereabouts a reinforced dive suit is for scanning? I went into the lava biome and got parboiled then eaten by a lava lizard. NOT A GOOD DAY IN SUBNAUTICA!

That place is creepy as hell. The warper things seemed to be following me around down there. What do they have to do with the precursors?

By the way, I found an awesome way to farm stalker teeth if you have constructed a base. If you have an observation tank thingy, find a stalker egg (the green transparentish ones) and hatch it in there. When the little thing hatches take it outside and release it outside your base. It will probably instantly attack your base but then settle down. And get this - it hangs around and stays friendly. Just drop some metal around the place and you'll find teeth.

Picked this up during the current sale. Currently I have 3 hours in it and find that it is very well done game (and its still in EA)

Been a bit quiet here as they roll on to the full release!

The Alien BFG update...erm, I mean...Precursor Update

http://unknownworlds.com/subnautica/precursor-update/

I'm pretending this is Thargoid technology...because it is taking forever for them to show up in ED.

I haven't been paying close attention lately as I want to have that fresh feeling when it releases. I thought it was due to release this month but it looks like they have pushed out to mid-May from looking at their roadmap https://trello.com/b/KbugnSRJ/subnautica-roadmap

Post 1.0 development goals are up there too...nice to know they are going to keep the ball rolling post release.

Bought this on early access about 8 months ago or so. Will I notice a big difference in this time if I reinstalled it now? Or should I wait until main release which is when again? Edit: Monk you've put mid may as release cheers.

Honestly, I would wait. A lot of major plot events are going in right now that are incomplete and could spoil a full play-through. When it was just building a base in the most exotic locations, that was one thing but I'd rather experience the campaign in a final form.

Roger Sir.

Thanks for the solid advice. I'd kind of thought as much myself but it's good to hear another fans opinion. Amazing little slow burner this one looking forward to playing on main release.

Got it last Friday, played it straight through the Christmas weekend.

This is how exploration and adventure should be done.
Diving down into the deep is SCARY!!!

The trick to making survival easy is
build two large aquariums with a variety of plants inside put airsacks in one and eyefish in the other and you are sorted for food and water as they breed, farming is also insanely easy once you know where the growing beds, fruit and veg are. You can also power bioreactors with fruit and veg

I'm hoping the progression of the main story makes surviving harder.

Perhaps the infection causes your vitals to drain more quickly as it spreads

I hope that if they do bring in such things they allow it to be an optional extra.

I really love the "just surviving" aspect of this game. Building yourself a base somewhere and trying to eke out a living like Robinson Crusoe or something, it's immersive and so much better than most other games of its type.

What I'd really love to see on full release is some sort of mod support. The idea of extending the play area by a few hundred square kilometres, making some new biomes and caves, is something I'd pay £200 for.

Yeah I'm holding off reinstalling it for the main release. Bought it earlier this year and I liked what I played but you could tell it needed a lot more content at that point.

mod support would be really awesome. devs have said they will likely support it as their other game supports it. Finishing the game, however, takes first priority.

I assume some people will immediately put lethal guns in it when given the chance but it would be pretty cool to see what worlds modders come with.
