Subsurface mining builds

I'm sticking with my Vette build.... I built a T-9 and the outer medium hard points did my head in. That and the fact when I went to the other side of a roid I hit a extracted rock and the ship folded like a cheap deckchair, losing 200 diamonds. (despite having 6A engineered shields)
At least you didn't mine 140 LTD, then meet a friend to give them to him so he could buy your squadron a fleet carrier, and because you haven't done player-with-player stuff for a long time, eject 140 LTD in one go, and listen to BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG as 120 of them exploded

Like .... someone .... might have done ....OH LOOK THERE'S DAVID!!!!! (runs away)

This exact Anaconda build is using the front cargo hatch (useful for fast collection in laser mining, but then it should use 3-4 medium lasers and better pp/pd):
  • 320t cargo,
  • 2 prospectors,
  • 9 collectors,
  • 2.5 mining lasers,
  • ssd (96 rockets) and deepcore (72 rockets) capable,
  • 2 large beams and rather solid shields (can be improved by using 4a prismatics) for self defence
  • uses 7a guardian pp/pd to ease the engineering and keep the price down
  • 4a fuel scoop for independent mining

I've tried to swap the fuel scoop for another collector/prospector but the collectors won't use the front cargo hatch anymore :/

I have been SSD mining in my T9 with all 5 hardpoints subsurface missile launchers - 3 medium, 2 small. The 1 center medium and two small work fine and I have adjusted my aim to offset the outer 2 medium - didn't take long to get used to. I have A-rated tier 3 clean thrusters so I don't find maneuvering around the rock too terrible. I'm also running 7A shields and military armor for those pirate interdictions I never seem to avoid.... I just like my T9 - it feels like a mining ship. My Cutter could be set up for mining, but it just seems too pretty...

I'll give it another go.... engineer my armour and perhaps fit prismatics. It's a shame that ammo isn't "pooled" so you don't have to change weapon to use the ammo if you have several of the same type fitted. My cutter is a weird fish, I don't actually know what to do with it. Currently it's a cargo cow for LTDs and Powerplay stuff.

I use my Cutter with legacy 5A shields 760T as armed cargo hauler for tritium and LTDs and it does pretty well. If interdicted and I can't beat the mini game easily I can always boost and jump away as it can't be mass locked except by another Cutter (at least that's what the wiki says). I lost a load of 580+ LTDs to NPC pirates in the T9 as I was interdicted and mass locked three times (T9 can be mass locked by a ridiculous number of ships that are much faster) . Got away the first two times with shields down and hull damage, but third time just outside the station they shot out my thrusters. They really wanted those diamonds. In hindsight I should have high waked, but I had 50% hull and was close to the station after second attack. Now I have Military grade armor just in case.

Is there a Krait mkII build?
Unlikely - this is one place where the Python has the advantage over the Krait, with that extra size-6 slot.
Also, the Python has its center Large HP right under the chin, so it can launch SSDM's with pinpoint precision. The Krait's top LHP is fairly accurate, but less so than the chin gun.
Basically, if you want a Krait miner go for it - you get a great view anyway. :) I guess you use essentially the same setup as the Python - you'll just be bringing back less. :)
