[SUGGESTION] Have the option of not carrying exploration data over to another ship

It is incredibly annoying, and makes no sense. What kind of commander takes their flight computer with them when changing ships?
Besides, if I went exploring for cartological data for BGS, I am inhibited of doing PvP, since there's too much risk of death. What? Why can't my flight computer's logs just stay in my conda instead of transfering *not even copying* them to my other ships?
Again, no sense, and it would be a huge QoL improvement to have this option.

Clearly you are not aware of how BGS works. Cart data has (as with everything) a maximum effect on influence, after a while. So, you can deliver some of it at start if you already have a target, but not all.

wot?
Abusing what? Not wasting your efforts?
I could just as easily log off and never play the game again except for when I have to deliver cart data. I like playing the game though, and it'd be nice if I could thx.
(P.S. didn't mean any disrespect, and didn't say the above in any agressive tone)

There's little enough risk in ED, so I don't support removing any.
If you don't want to sell your cartographic data immediately, that's your choice, but accept that it comes with a risk.

Honestly, I have to say I agree with that first part, which is why I delayed posting this till now. However, I spent my monday gathering data only to have a g mostly harmless cobra mk3 NPC without shield try to enter the station (smack dab in the middle of the mailslot) while I was leaving in my fort cuttter. It died, and so did I, lost 250 systems worth of cart data. Very annoying, and makes no logical sense to bring your on board PC with you, sooo IMHO that risk aspect of E:D should be removed.
Plus hopefuly PP will be open only soon enough (yay!) so there's a bit more risk.

In that case speed is everything, stick to < 100 when you leave & all you will get is sore wrists. Speed & you may be killed.

Yeah, it was my fault, doesn't make it any less annoying.
P.S. I know how carebear-y that sounds, I'm fine with the rebuy, whatever, but there was no reason for that data to be on my cutter. I didn't explore on my cutter, I did so on my conda.

Probably not but it was completely avoidable.

You could have taken the Conda where you wanted to sell the data, or stuck to the speed limit, both cases would have left you without losing said data.

It makes a lot of sense to change to a more defensively (combat) oriented ship within the bubble to mitigate risk from external sources.

Unless you decide to speed out of the mailbox at the same time as another ship is landing...

What prompted this wasn't that you don't want to carry over the data it's more because you ballsed up while you had it. While I am all for options, I doubt that leaving your data on that ship would have been your default choice.

once more, you appear to have paid 0 attention to my reason for 1. getting the data and 2. keeping it (which I explained when you first replied to my thread)
and YES, it would have been my default choice, lol.
Furthermore, I should inform you the data for those 250 or so systems was only worth around 5m credits, as I only honked the systems *purely for the influence aspect of the data* which (again) you would know if you had paid attention to my reply.

250 systems? I lol'ed, yes I really did.

You want a way to protect your 250 systems worth of data and yet are quite happy to let explorers returning with ten thousand plus systems and 100's of millions or billions worth of data take pot luck? I might have had a bit of sympathy if you were suggesting a method of us all not losing our data, not that I would have agreed with you, but at least sympathy is better than nothing right?

wait, so you're basicly saying "screw you because you only lost 250 systems LOL I can get tens of millions in one afternoon, 250 in one afternoon is rookie numbers" BIG t h o n k

Let me save you some trouble, these folks HATE explorers, and ANYTIME anyone says anything about explorer data, this crap starts. Remember, Elite is ONLY about Pew Pew, and that's all to them, they can't think people might wan't to "Blaze their own trial" unless it's the way THEY play. Freedom and Choice, as long as you agree with THEIR choice.

One of the reasons why I quit this crappy game.

Leave your valuable data unattended on a ship left in dock - with all those dubious characters hanging around? Doubt it will be there when you get back.

If only the game even had the mechanics to make something like that possible, then we could go on missions to get our scan data back, sounds like an opening to a PERSONAL NARRATIVE... oh, yea, that unicorn.....
