[Summary Thread] Removed and Missing Information in Elite: Odyssey

!!YET TO UPDATE TO ACCOUNT FOR UPDATE 3 CHANGES!!
Some entries were supposedly fixed in update 2, but not mentioned in the patch notes. Investigation is necessary before the list is fully up to date.

As many players noticed, certain bits of information were made unavailable in the Odyssey Update. Much of it seems quite crucial for some, if not most players. Almost all areas of the game are affected by instances of information that has been removed. I am making an attempt to list all instances with the help of community input. Hopefully these cases can be addressed swiftly. I will keep this list up tp date and include new entries as they come in.

Please link corresponding issue tracker submissions, if they exist.

I would like to note that there is also many instances of information that was newly added or is now shown in convenient places. I am very grateful and happy with those changes. Listing the cases where information is missing seems to be a constructive approach though and I hope this will encourage someone in development to look into it.

I do think that's a bug. If you have a issue tracker ticket I could link, that would be great
They had a DPS stat and a magazine size number in addition to just the bar(which isn't very useful information). You can't put multiple images in an issue tracker so I couldn't put the alpha screenshot of the same weapon but I can here. The first image is during the alpha and the second image(the same one from the report is from yesterday).

The new engineering mods for suits and things also only have a bar with no numerical indication of how much it's changing things and several appear to go beyond the bar and make it even more difficult to tell if it's maxing the stat or if it's just not showing the full change.

You also cannot directly plot a route to a bookmark in the galaxy map or system map by selecting the bookmark. For the galaxy map it's less of an annoyance since you can just click the system to plot but if it's a bookmarked body, port or anything else you have to open the system map and then plot a route to it.

The galaxy map also doesn't automatically replot a route if you change ships or filters and the "manual replot" option they added only functions if you change your route setting(fastest and eco not a filter).

The new Search function on the galaxy map won't select the system if you type the name and hit enter. You have to click the name in the search bar(even if it's the only system) to select it. This also means you can't swap between every system that has those characters quickly and have to continually reselect the search box to select the next system in the list.

-Edit: Swapping to Horizons resets your controls in both Horizons and Odyssey to a default preset. It seems both games use the same file to determine which of your control presets they use but Horizons can't use the new way Odyssey has category presets so it assumes you have no preset selected. This causes it to default to one that varies depending on what controls you have connected which in turn changes Odyssey to that preset. This also effects graphics settings as they both edit the same file so changing anything in Horizons will reset your on foot FOV and any other Odyssey specific settings.

Thank you @Ulon Yuanshi. This is a great summary, much appreciated. Glad you're liking most of the changes, we'll bring the rest up to par :)
Any update on why everything just looks pretty bad now? I had not played the previous version of the game however seeing the screenshots comparing them.... the difference is undeniable. Really surprised on the silence of Frontier on this. Is this what is intended?

Galaxy map: please bring us the old bar on the selected system, with easy way to target, plot, and bookmark!
When a system is selected no info about the distance (very annoying using NS route).
System map: please let us have info like before, was much better.
Ship management: please make it functional, more user friendly, in fact was better before. Today I preferred to use Horinzons just for changing a module in my ship. The ship management (modules, etc) is a big downgrade.

This is not the focus or topic of this thread. There are discussions on this explicit problem in other threads.

Leave it for the mods. I do not see that tag with you.
Did you know that the colour yellow is different from the colour blue? Or that grass isn't the same as concrete?

Both are about as on topic for this thread as what you decided to add to it. And all four have a better sense of how forum threads are supposed to work.

Good list, thanks!

Odyssey System map doesn't show the full population number. It's merely showing the same number as GalMap, which is going to be something like "4.1 million" instead of the full "4.123.456", for example.

That's a nice list.

Sticking purely to information that is missing, one thing I have always thought there needs to be a way to see is the current mass of your ship.

You can see the info for your modules, including how much mass they have and where applicable what the optimal mass for them is. When you are engineering you can also see this updating.

But the only way that you can see you ship's mass is to dock at a station and go into outfitting. The outfitting is also confusing as there are 3 numbers with no description of what they mean.

I think in the System Panel, under the Ship tab > Statistics would be the perfect place to list the current mass of your ship.
