It's true that most of their range falls outside East Asia, but a part of it does fall in that region. I guess wolverine, wild boar and red fox are in the same situation, so I decided to mention them all.
Eh, I think an East Asian theme would focus on species who are mostly found in that region. Plus, the cobra prop in-game is part of the India theme.

I think Japan/Korean/Vietnam (East Asia Pack) but China should have their own because there are too much animals to cover for China. India should have its own too.
Although not region-based or biome-based, I do one day hope for an avian pack. There are very few avian species to choose from in the game right now, when there is so much to offer with tropical birds! Macaws, cockatoos, amazon parrots, etc would all be wonderful to see in a zoo. They'd likely introduce Aviary buildings, habitat ceilings/domes, or probably have tropical birds as open-air exhibit animals.
I was always thinking it would be east asia next somehow, but... do we have new clues? What did I miss?
I think there was talk of the torii gate when they found the capybara and stick insect info but I don't know any details. It seems from what people are saying that there has been more discovered/confirmed but maybe I am reading too much into it.
In addition to what others mentioned, the saiga antelope lives just north of the Kaukasus. It isn't found anywhere near East Asia. Pallas's cat is predominantly from Central Asia.
I do think an Asian pack is likely, but something in the shape of the African Pack is more realistic (i.e. we get one SEA animal and theme and several animals from other parts of Asia).
I find it extremely unlikely that they would throw away months of development over the current events. Looking at the Africa and Europe pack scenery compared to scenery from the first year, it's quite obvious that the scenery team now has a larger timespan to work on their scenery, so they would have already been working on it from January, if not earlier.
Do you have a link to your source? Because last time you said the update was going to be one of the biggest ones in terms of file size and that ended up being incorrect. So I'm taking this all with a massive grain of salt.

If that mean there was possibility for us to get Russian scenery pieces, but we won't because they're at war that wouldn't sit very well with me.
Without getting into politics - which isn’t allowed - it wouldn’t be a good idea from a business point of view to showcase the culture and architectural styles of a country that is currently synonymous with war, under international sanctions and being shunned by much of the world.
