Summer DLC Speculation 2023

Oh I can imagine that too. But, as we all know, the irony is that these people would still buy the DLCs cuz that's what people do. :ROFLMAO:
More content is an objective +, theres no reason not to buy a pack when your short on money, especally a scenery pack.
The tropics packs individual elements are all good and enhance the game, my problem with it is that they enhance the wrong areas.
It feels like its killing frontier to just give us South American Animals, Birds and Monkeys, but hey atleast we finally got a non crocodile habitat reptile, only took them 3 years and it isnt even from a region that doesnt have this type of animal allready.
Same for the sloth, ofcourse it aint killing me that its the wrong sloth and with it being an exhibit animal im propaply not gonna use it anyways, but why is it the wrong one?
Bla bla its the more popular one in pop culture but would anybody even care if its NOT the one in popcultute as all they want is a sloth?
Why not pick the one that will make realistic builders aka a good chunk of your most loyal playerbase really happy?
Ofcourse we dont know the full picture till we get the update notes, because it seems like we got a meaningful brachiachtion overhaul with this update and if the orangutan can brachiate all will be forgiven.
Its so weird, we got a great update that tackled some of the biggest and long lasting main complains people had with habitats turning into meat grinders once the babys grow to adults, null paths, toggleable climbeable pieces and even a great new building help, so why is the update so attune with what the player base wanted but not the dlc itself?
Before this pack if you asked anyone to make a tropical pack, you would have got a heavy focus on monkeys and birds and somehow frontier did exactly not that.
Its just baffling

So I think after the Tropical Pack we are running out of options, like there aren't actually many concepts you could think of for a summer Animal Pack.
So I think it would be between the following concepts:

From now on forward we really need a bird, a monkey and a domestic in every pack IF only 3 packs are remaining.
The best bets imo would be an explorers, urban or children zoo pack for scenery, each with its own down and upsides.

Explorers would give research and education based scenery and one animal for jungles, deserts, mountains and somewhere cold, with the preferd line up being an SA monkey, dromedary, a mountain goat but himalayan thar fits best imo cause himalaya and wolverine, cause yall want it so desperatly.
Exhibit would be oceania to round out the continents, preferably the rainbow lorikeet.
Main draw here would be to add a little bit everywhere, giving us the much needed SA monkey the tropics pack didnt provide and either adding or """""""""substituting"""""" a desert or mountain pack if we shouldnt get one.

Urban would give us more general use and city like items, satisfying the very down to earth builders. For Animals, the gray hulman for asian, wild boar for european, brush tailed possum for australian and the canada goose or mallard duck for all citys would be great and props the only chance for the wild boar to still make it.

Children Zoo takes the W over the petting zoo map cause we are desperate for monke. Scenery wise this is pretty much anything goes and a more education focused second go at conservation.
For animals, a tamarin, south american coati, african dwarf goat and great white pelican with the budgie WE would propaply be the densest pack on favorites so far.

For animal packs, its propaply a toss up between islands, dry lands and mountains.

Islands imo feels like the savest bet, finally mostly completing oceania with the tasmanian devil, kiwi and a tree kangaroo, aswell as offering animals from around the world with the rhiocerous iguana, white cheeked pintail, shetland pony and an indonesian monkey, with all of sulawesi crested macaque, crab eating macaque, southern pig tailed monkey and java langur being great choices. Dream exhibit would be a reef aquarium, but more realisticly the bali mynah for the WE would do us a great service.
This pack would fix up multiple holes in the roster, mainly finishing oceania, a common petting zoo animal, a duck and a monkey.

Drylands feels like the runner up, with the burrowing owl and collared peccary being great candidates to flesh out most of the americas, the african spurred tortoise, dromedary and hamadryas baboon would fill in northern africa and the middle east and the patagonian mara and yellow footed rock wallaby would throw southern south america and australia a bone, with the budgies as the WE.
In the case of the explorers pack id swap the dromedary for the african dwarf goat and if this would coexist with the children zoo pack the children zoo would get another bird instead of budgies.
The main advantage of a drylands pack is that one of the largest blind spots rn is northern africa, while also housing arguably 2 of the most desireable domestics with the dromedary and goat. It also offers the opportunity to give non tropical south america a last hurray.

Mountains feels the least likly, but still realistic.
It would offer the most even split for the continent with the alpine marmot, yellow footed rock wallaby, gelada, takin, domestic yak and spectacle bear. My dreamer would mention the andean condor as the 7. Habitat animal, but to keep things more in line, a random goat fits better, choose what you prefer but my choice would be the barbary sheep. For the WE, a species of turaco would be nice.

And that would be my idears for what id like to see this year. Preference wise, Islands, Explorers and drylands would win out for me, but any combination of these packs would satisfy me greatly

It absolute grinds my gears when everything is just a "lazy reskin". That can be true, but it can be helped that a majority of players want animals that just happen to be in the same families as others. I can understand the frustration with the lar gibbon. It is a reskin! But now I have to two gibbon options. For me, who builds zoos to have realistic animals for their budget, I can have a more common gibbon species. I can have red river hogs for when I don't want to have warthog, or both, because that's the case for most of the zoos I've been to. Obviously, the HBB and Malayan tapir cannot be forgiven.

But I also agree with most all the points discussed about the execution of this pack. This theme was always a no-brainer animal pack with SA primates and animals with honestly rigs/animations we haven't had before. I'm just hopeful for the future.

yes. Drylands will fit summer nicely and be animal pack:

Indian Crested Porcupine (main animal)
Collared peccary (but maybe Frontier would not want to make them after Red river hogs :(
Sulcata tortoise
Dromedary
hamadryas or Olive Baboon
Patagonian Mara or Rock hyrax
Secretary bird
King Cobra

Yeah I thought exactly the same about the Peccary! Feels very unlikely to have it right after the RRH. So I think instead they will give us the Patagonian Mara, which is also not bad I believe.

Edit: But then we would get two rodents with the porcupine so now I really don't know anymore haha

I would prefer Safari animal pack with species from Africa India and SA:

Safari:
Africa
Porcupine
Black rhinoceros
Baboon
India
Blackbuck
Sloth bear
SA
Coati
Howler monkey
Or
Rhea
Patagonian mara

Every pack is going to have reskins, they are simply a lot easier to make than a unique rig. In the time it makes frontier to create one "unique" animal, they could probably make 4-5 reskins. Frontier trying to make an animal pack with 8 unique animals would probably be 4x times the cost of a normal DLC. The reskins aren't taking away slots from unique animals, they are just giving us additional choices on top of the unique ones they have the capacity to do.

I mean, technically we got two rodents in the North America pack, so it's possible!

I want a highlands pack so bad - Grumpy faced Pallas cat, colorful golden takin, graceful himalayan monal, agile rock hyrax, majestic markhor, famous spectacled bear, bashful gelada, and for the WE the clownish kea.

Yes, its heavily Himalayan, but it's a somewhat neglected area currently and with a dedicated Himalayan secetion there would finally be a realistic reason for a zoo to have the uncommon Himalayan brown bear subspecies, but beyond Asia, there are representatives from Africa, South America, and Australia. The animals are diverse, colorful, and even the 'reskins' would fill importabt parts of the rooster.

That would actually be a really nice lineup. I would only slighly more prefer Hamadryas Baboon to a Gelada, but I guess they are more mountainous.

Okay, I'm gonna whip up a rather controversial take with another idea.

SAVANNAH ANIMAL PACK
Blackbuck
Eastern Black Rhinoceros
African Crested Porcupine
Eastern Grey Kangaroo
Gaur
Greater Rhea
Secretary Bird
Ex. King Cobra

Half of them from Africa, four species of ungulates and two birds in a pack, I know it's pretty wild take. But hey it's not a bad roster, otherwise please give your thoughts 🙏🙏🙏
It's not a bad roster at all. But I would make one change. Take out the Greater Rhea as it's unlikely we'd get both that and the Secretary Bird, and replace it with the Olive Baboon. Not the most requested Baboon but it matches the Savannah theme well. It would also give us the main type of missing Old World Monkey.

People suggesting takin and markhor constantly for Highlands, while both great picks, are really sleeping on the aoudad/Barbary sheep.

1. Super common in zoos
2. Unique looking from the other caprines we have
3. Would give great rep for North Africa/Atlas Mountains

Drylands seem like the most likely option for summer, because i don't think they will do two tropical packs in a row.
And it will most likely be an animal pack (or so i hope so)

1. Dromedary
2. Addax or a carnivore (coyote, black backed jackal, sand cat?)
3. Secretary bird or greater rhea
4. Patagonian mara
5. Collared peccary
6. Hamadryas baboon
7. Perentie
8. WE: i still don't know (maybe just a regular exhibit with a cobra)

And i think the islands pack will a scenery pack with caribbean building pieces

1. Tasmanian devil
2. Kiwi
3. Brown pelican (or Caribbean flamingo, rockhopper penguin or cuban crocodile)
4. Aye-aye or Sifaka (or maybe they skip Madagascar since they gave us the fossa in the Tropical pack and go with Japan (Tanuki) or another caribbean animal (see above))
5. WE: lorikeets (or my dream... birds of paradise lol) or E chameleon
