Supersampling with Oculus works again!

Both are like different kind of supersampling.

With PD you have a more crisp image, very noticeable in the elements close to you,, everythin looks nitid and clear, however, it doesn't solve well the jagging lines or the objects in distance.

With SS the image in general is more antialiased, and jagging lines get a huge improvement, nice for elements in distance , or for example flying around stations or outposts.

I personally prefer to use the PD, it's like having a CV1.5 also i think it has less FPS impact, not sure. Maybe in your case would be nice to have SS1.25 and PD1.25... half and half :)

Cheers for that write up. Based on your summary of the two methods I think I'll be sticking with Elites SS and not the Oculus PD settings, although I'll undoubtedly fiddle with both before ultimately deciding.

I'm extremely happy with the quality of the image I get 'in cockpit' with SS set to 1.0 and no Oculus PD overides, text is perfectly legible and I don't see many jaggies. The other side of the cockpit window is another story however, I just hate looking at stations, platforms and surfaces bases from any distance over 350KM, ships are pretty bad too - way too many jaggies for my tastes, which is why I have GTX 1080 Strix on pre-order!

Just in case this helps anyone I've just discovered a way to see if the PPD setting is active.

In the debug tool against Visible HUD select 'Layer'. In-Rift this will bring up a semi-transparent panel and at the bottom it shows the PPD value. You can turn it off at any time by selecting 'None'.
