2 questions:
1. Only 1 contribution required for the paint job?
2. Can I sign in to both CG to get the 2 paint jobs?

Does switching side impact negatively wherever you already earned for the other side, maybe?
That would be smart and fair
I haven't tried it on this one, and with these weird things happening, but that's not how it normally works. You gain bonds/credits from whichever side you pick. The trick is that your "Reputation" drops faster from your enemy's side. If you play both camps, they'll both hate you soon enough ;-)

Speaking of "fair", does anyone know if the 40,000 merits earned by pledged players also earns system score? As in 40,000 merits / 4 = 10,00 score for each player? Hopefully not as the larger Power can come in, kill 1 ship that earns them 10K score, and win the system without much fighting.

Its just really weird to replicate what already happens for what seems(?) no real reason.
Interesting trivia note on this:
- this is the first War CG since the Grey Swan in October 2023
- this is the first contested pair of War CGs since Pichch almost exactly two years ago

I would guess the bonus merits (like those from weekly activities) will just be personal and not affect whatever system you happen to be in when you win the CG.

However I would not be surprised if one of the global outcomes of the CG was that the system becomes a control system for whichever side wins the CG (Archer, then).

Not like this.

I think a better question is how do I get 80,000 merits :)

I wonder if if I play for another power, suddenly they stop being enemies :)

Wow nice. This is the first CG I am aware of that now has a high chance to have players on both sides active and engage each other in pvp. This will be interesting for ground operations since we can fight in the air AND on the ground around the same installation.

I don't quite follow you. Why participate in the CG if I'm from another Power? I won't get any territory or my 40,000 merit.

For a minimum of 120,000,000 Credits? You'll get at least 60 MCr. from each side for participating. Twice that much if you manage to bring in some more bounties (right now, possible with two ground conflict zones each). And probably again at least twice that much if the CG reaches tier 2. You could look at half a billion with minimal effort - and without actually helping either side, if you fight on both sides.

The only reason I'm participating, because 1) I don't do Powerplay and 2) those paint jobs are ugly.

If the other CG hits tier 1, I'm currently sitting at a potential half a billion for only 2 hours of gameplay.

Not a bad trade at all.

Loans, what's that for?

I have billions in my account and billions in FC, can I convert them to merits?

My PP rank is less than 50, so my playtime is better spent on my power.

I used to be a free mercenary before PP2, now I'm contractually bound to my power.

Because it's a reason, for example, to play PVP on the surface and take a break from construction 🤷‍♂️
How is PvP, or fighting in a team (wing) at the ground CZ's? I read that it used to be very bad due to bugs and performance issues (latency, rubber banding...). I also assume most commanders doing PvP have full G5 engineered gear, and plenty of experience.

I gave my first try to ground CZ's yesterday using Private Group Mobius, but have not met any commanders there. I have only no-mod G3 Gear that I got from Pioneer Supplies. Before that, the only on-foot experience I had was Exobiology, so pretty much no experience.

The on-foot gameplay is good, and using the Frontline dropships pretty immersive (but why are they using Vultures..!), but the NPC's are, let's talk frankly, pretty much dumb. Low vs Medium CZ's just makes them more resistant and, I assume, have them deal more damage. But they just either walk slowly in a straight line, no running, no taking cover, or stand still. They don't use shield grenades, don't try to flank you, don't run away.
The only challenge is when you run out of ammo and takes too long to find an ammo box nearby (I am bad at memorizing the layout of a map).
I did the Low CZ 3 times to get used to the mechanics and test different loadouts, then each Medium CZ once.

All in all, a nice change of pace from popping up NPC ships at the space CZ's...and you get ~1-2 millions in about 15 minutes (would be more at a high ground CZ, I believe). But not sure I would enjoy it as much as space combat.
