He probably will. Archer has many dedicated supporters, Denton - not so much.
So far, Archer is progressing twice faster than Patreus.
Might be something to do with the ground CZ's more accessible/ convenient for the former.

I also have this vague memory that the Feds just historically have more support because ‘muh Earth democrats’. Even though under Hudson it strayed very close to becoming not so much of a democracy, and it would have just gotten worse under Archer. (Commenting purely on in-game/lore basis, to be sure)
The only thing worse than a government run by mega corporations is a government run by the military. The difference is very slight though, both ultimately end up in the 9th circle of hell

I have another question: Those who are pledged to one of these two or another power, can you still participate on both sides to get both paintjobs? Or will you get shot down, when flying to the archer station/ Patreus Mega ship, when bringing in the bonds, because you’re from an enemy power?

i am not pledged to either of them (i am pledged to Li jong rui) but they happily ignore me until i pick a side and engage.
i totally forgot about ground combat. i have never done it in elite before, will have to give it a go. (though my gear is rubbish!)
ok stupid question as have never done it before. how does one identify a ground CZ Vs a space one from the left panel?
Space ones will be “Points of Interest”. Ground CZs will be at Odyssey settlements and highlighted on the system map, as well as marked differently to show them in the navigation panel.

The easiest way is to use Frontline Services in the Station Concourse - both sides can be accessed there, but remember not to claim the combat bonds there if fighting for the Empire! You can then take the dropship from the Frontline lifts, eliminating any risk to your own ships. If you 'die', you simply respawn in the drop ship and drop again as long as the battle continues until the last few minutes. Then at the end, make sure you have a key mapped to close the scoreboard and use again to summon a return shuttle!
Frontline, or flying there, is the only way to determine CZ intensity.
Avoid any CZs that DON'T include Alectrona Imperial Society and Social Chi Eridani Revolutionary Party.

cheers. I just did my 1st one. I really need to figure out the controls and what not (my level 1 weapons are a bit weak I have some level 3 ones but could not figure out how to equip

Not sure if that's your issue, but you have to arrange a suit (preferrably Dominator) and your weapons into a loadout and then equip that loadout. Both can be done from a concourse terminal or the crotch panel when you're in your ship (there may be other options I haven't tried/used yet).
I'm myself still struggling with selecting the weapons, but I think (using the default gamepad layout) D-pad right equips a weapon while Y switches between the primary weapons on the Dominator. Haven't found out (or needed to find out) how to switch from the rifles to the pistol or how to holster my weapons reliably.
holster as default i think is back on the pad, however i never do that. as default equip 2ndary weapon does not appear to be bound so i added as Y + Dpad up combo. turns out my only class 3 weapon i have is my side arm but only class 1 primaries so i am actually unsure which is the better weapon. i need to get on the sharing is caring thread and upgrade once this CG is over.
once everything is loaded in the ground combat works ok on my steamdeck..... tho i cant read half of the text which makes things a bit of a challenge..... but its nice if i cant be bothered firing up the main pc

Iirc you can collect merits but you wont progress in ranks until you complete the initiation missions. Then you should get rank depending on all the merits you collected. But im not 100% sure on that. I would still rather complete the missions asap just to be sure...
Can someone confirm that they received the credits for the Archer/Social Chi Eridani Revolutionary Party CG? I was in the top 25%, received the 40 merits, I did get a message which I think said that I was being rewarded 250,000,000 credits for my contribution to the CG, but I don't think it was actually credited to my "credit account" and, in Inara, don't see a "250,000,000 deposit" in the credits/assets tab. Unfortunately you need to have specifically looked at your in-game credits before and after - I did, but didn't write it down so can't quite be sure - the current amount doesn't seem right, from what I remember. Thoughts, anyone?

did you redeem the reward at the station? if not do it. cr rewards are part of the classic reward package you have to either pick up, or wait for it for a week or two to arrive automatically. methinks. merits were most probably going separately as they were awarded immediately.
