I believe that your money you get from UC is slightly increased, but it bears no relevance to the CG at all. That is purely:
1 Ammonia World = 1 point
1 Ammonia World (mapped) = 3 points

That's a whole lotta Ammonia Worlds :D

Ah, I see now! 1 point per charto with any explo data, but 3 points for chartos with AWs.
No I don't think so.
it is the data from ammonia worlds that will really progress the research, with data from mapped ammonia worlds being three times as useful.

So I think it's as I said above. 1 for AW, 3 for mapped AW. 3 mapped AWs in one system would be 9 points.

I thought 1 report = 10,000 credits or something?
Hmm, some multiplier like that - I just handed in ~7M UC with ~5AW and got:

(pretty sure it wasn't 98 AW :) )

Edit: My guess - 1 per 100k - plus the AW bonus - so I got 70 for UC, then 28 more for the AW scans

Hmmm, I don't know how accurate and up-to-date that statistic is, but it seems EDSM has <400k discovered AWs - for the whole galaxy. Not sure how you will make it to 27 million if it counts by 1s and 3s... Or ~10 commanders scan and map them all ;)

~5 AWs
That's not very scientific :D

Interesting though. Can you relog just to make sure the number doesn't change ;)

Just did - still 98 :) I'm at the mission board in the station - which is usually correct.

Sorry about the ~5. I could go and count, but it's getting dark so I want to get out!

Traditionally exploration CGs were one point per system on the scan list, so if this was on that basis, it'd be one per system, or three if the system scan contains a mapped AW. (Or possibly one per system and separately three per mapped AW, so a system with 2 mapped AWs might be 7 points for the lot)

Also, they never got much above 500k total scans, so if that's still what it's counting this might take a while...
(Given that "terraforming" of inhabited planets is essentially genocide of whatever current life it has, I would hope that it did fail, too)

I'm a bit confused, because it's a CG. Anyone trading using EDDB for a CG will crush anyone trying to actually trade.

Only for Trade CG, and there's no reason you couldn't design an exploration CG which doesn't .

Ammonia Worlds are rare, but they're not really rare.

0.2% of my discovered planets with a statistical sample that's large enough (6500+ planets), I'd say that's relatively rare when you're looking for new ones.

Not sure what you mean about first discoveries though.

The credits bonus for actual discoveries vs turning up data on a planet that's been scanned and mapped thousands of times already, which is actually quite low.
Now, it wasn't clear when I posted that but since we now know it's about the amount of scan, it shouldn't have been hard to put a modifier for the CG to reward true exploration (ie x10 for newly discovered AWs) while still accepting data from already scanned planets so that everyone can participate.

Don't forget that Exploration is the hardest thing to do a CG for, because once you've scanned an object once, you can't scan it again. So you're pushed further and further into areas you've not explored before, just to get data.

Isn't that what's exploration is about ?
Honestly is just about that (kind of) CG being wronlgy called Exploration, it's just a variant of a Trade CG while it could be much more interesting (but less farmable).
Also what I said about a modifier above, you could make an Exploration CG that's open to anyone yet rewards true discoveries more.

Oh yes they are relatively rare, but not super rare. How many Helium Gas Giants have you found?

How do you know they haven't? I mean they probably haven't, but we've no evidence to suggest they have or haven't, and it seems that we still don't know what's truly going on with the rewards and records.

Well you could debate what exploration actually is for years, god knows we have done on this forum. But it is an Exploration CG because it's about gathering planetary data for the purpose of advancing a group's ideas. However it's still a CG and they are designed to be for everyone to be able to take part. If the reports for this do take into account the sell value of the data as well, then they are already rewarding more for true discoveries.
