News Support update - Reiteration of player harassment rules

Not sure it's being offended.
My honest opinion on this is that it's instinctual, I know cos I've experienced it myself.
You get jumped you then have to quickly alt-tab out of Facebook and back into the game, you then go into a bit of panic.
If it wasn't expected you literally have a few seconds to make a decision and often the decision is gonna be an emotional one, so right there flight instinct kicks in and you quit out.
You then rationalize that a bit later by "oh they were griefers".
IMHO it actually takes a bit of self-discipline and willpower NOT to quit out. To either stay there and fight, keep a calm head and try to high wake or just bite the bullet and accept that death at the hands of another player is a valid part of the game.

Most other multiplayer games remove obviously unsavory players far faster and more regularly than FD have done so far.
Isn't it also about time that FD also looked more deeply into the chat logs too? They need to take responsibility for their games environment. Dealing with with the racist/ homophobic comments posted by certain players toward others in the game would be a good start, especially with a game rated PEGI 7.
Full account banns would be ordinary for many companies but shadow banns is i suppose all we can hope for...

Some things change and some things never do.
Griefers gonna grief, whether they're in Open or on the Forums.
In Open, the do 3v1 attacks on weaker ships and post video to celebrate their "mad skilz." On the Forums, they make up silly arguments and pretend not to "get it" even when everything has been explained multiple times in painful detail. Just another way to get attention and (they hope) a reaction.
Well, this part was obviously not as obvious to everyone as everyone else thought. Hence it was clarified and all ambiguity gone.
Should be pretty clear now, which behaviour is not acceptable.
Not the slightest idea what needs to be discussed in that announcement, but pretty much all of the people having "issues" with it being on my ingore list (so thanks for not quoting them .. it circumvents my filterage

Who said we ever stopped? They won't do anything anyways. Another thread of false promises with no backing. Hell I HOPE they follow through.

Ever notice how the people wanting everyone to have to play in Open (no matter what the thread topic, it always seems to come back to that in the end) have a history of either griefing themselves or supporting griefers?

The game should support all types of play within the context of the rules set forth when you bought and joined ED. Killing other players within the context of the game and its rules is not the issue, Player harassment is the issue and I applaud Frontiers efforts to control this. This has nothing to do with "crying carebears" or big game devs turning their back on minority players, who in this context never had the big game devs on their side to begin with.
And frequently the ones that drone on endlessly about 'combat logging' - which funnily enough isn't mentioned in the EULA, though 'harassing' is. It's quite entertaining watching people explain how something the EULA doesn't actually say has to be enforced, but FD don't have a leg to stand on if they try to do the same with something the EULA explicitly forbids. Not that you need an EULA to ban people from using internet services for harassment purposes anyway...
I'd like to clarify here that Zac didn't say that. He made up some new rules and threw them on the forums and now we're supposed to follow them as if they were in the TOS or the EULA and they're not.

Its THIER game...they do as they wish....and nothing you can do about it.
I'm glad it's "THIER" game and all but it turns out that if you advertise one game and deliver another, it doesn't work out so well.

Not a concern to this thread......what this thread entails is a fix for your actions that has distrubed a high number of players.
Nothing else...not combat logging, not your sunday cruise to the park...nothing else...it addresses what YOUR group has done and has threatened to do...its that simple.
That is a matter of interpretation.
It is 110% on topic. If they have now decided that the below no longer applies, then this game has completely changed and I no longer want to be a part of it if my services can be terminated for killing others.
