Swan or duck, what do you prefer?

(Tbh, I want both 😞)

Honestly, probably swan. Simply because if we got just one swan I'd find it easier to use than just one duck. Ducks feel like they'd work better with multiple species, which makes it more annoying we don't have have any at all.

The thing way more interesting about swan vs duck is which one imo.

For swans its quite clear cut, while the muted swan might be the most iconic one the black swan would defenetly have the most value, doing everything the mute swan can whild being just as common and from Australia.

Ducks feel much more context sensitive as especally ducks have a good choice for most potential packs and i doubt most people dont care to much if its a mallard, mandarine, wood or white faced whistling duck, not to mention all the other duck species that are common in zoos with all of them having their own advantages, mallard being standard duck, mandrine the most iconic pretty duck, wood offering a very different looking one for north america and white faced whistling being found in tropical south america, africa and madagascar giving some feathery love to many different regions.
Id argue all 4 wouldnt invalidate one another and be the bare minimum duck representation and comeone frontier duck pack when?

So if we get just one of these six black swan would props be best but really all of them are must haves for the game

I think the larger swans would work better. I want both black and mute swans.

Still, duck ponds are extremely common in zoos. Mandarin ducks are awesome, and the North American wood duck is not far behind. Muscovy, mallard, and white faced whistling ducks also exist. With one good model, I'm sure the modders could make more.

If I had to pick one, I'd probably pick swans, but the mute swan and mallard duck are in the top 5 birds I'd add. I hope it doesn't come down to one or the other. Both are far ahead of geese in my book.

While I would prefer a goose to either (bar-headed all the way), if I had to choose from swan or duck I would probably pick a swan.

Top choices would be either the black swan (common in zoos and a good representative of Australia) or the black-necked swan (not as common but by no means rare, plus also representing southernmost South America). My third choice would actually be the whooper rather than the mute swan - all of my top three choices have a similar musical whistling call, while the mute swan just sounds like it is trying to clear its throat.

Swans.

I realize I'm going to get lambasted for this, but to me ducks are almost like scenery type animals, like squirrels would be. Like, they're there by nature, but not part of the actual zoo?
