It is indeed, there’s no doubt about that, but I probably wouldn’t have believed it back when DS came out.Yet it's the truth.. Also Prey was indeed a spiritual successor, as told by Arkane Studios.
I couldn't have put it better myself.I also put in the untethered mod for when I did my VR playthrough - like you say, it’s easier overall but a proper knicker-gripper once the beast does turn up![]()
I'm not into remakes. While I enjoyed SS2 and still think it's one of the best games of all times, I've been through it completely, and have a huge backlog of other excellent games to play yetAre you looking forward to the recently-announced VR version of SS2? I’m going to be all over that like a necromorph on IsaacSeeing as the original SS1 was actually a VR game (with the Forte VFX1) I still hope to experience it that way as well, either the old game or the new remake.
Hush! Don’t mention The BacklogI'm not into remakes. While I enjoyed SS2 and still think it's one of the best games of all times, I've been through it completely, and have a huge backlog of other excellent games to play yetAnd yeah, I still enjoyed DS1 despite not liking remakes, as it had a much more enjoyable combat experience, and you could almost feel the weight of each hit, and IMHO the game stands on its own overall.
Oh my gosh, SOMA... I'd totally forgotten that game. It was on my 'to buy' list for ages, but for one reason or another I never got it! Will have to have a look (yet again)........Of course SOMA is the first one that comes to mind, it's not a System Shock kind of game ... but the very intense and dark atmosphere is there.....
Yeah, it's like a trend currently. Like zombie survival games. Every game and their dog gets a remake.I'm not into remakes. My advice is complete the game first, THEN and only then (after seeing it through) go and watch the YT live miniseries they did about it, because it's not only full of spoilers, also you have zero chance to understand the multiple levels of horror that happen in there without having played the game first, or even who are the protagonists. The miniseries is then excellent, and pure nightmare fuel.Oh my gosh, SOMA... I'd totally forgotten that game. It was on my 'to buy' list for ages, but for one reason or another I never got it! Thanks very much for the advice and it's still holding a good price too - always a positive sign. I'm off to dip both toes it SOMA, whilst wondering how I let it pass me by the first time.
