I liked this thread more at the "wow, I feel a great sense of positive nostalgia about watching a new player being excited about the game" part, and less at the "what is the definition of grind" part. Foxyloxy seems to be having a fantastic time with Elite. He's learning things by doing them, which is exactly how you should do it. And he's got a positive attitude about "the grind" to get himself an iCourier. That's what it's all about. Do stuff, have fun doing stuff, set yourself a goal and work on it in ways you enjoy.
I swear, seems like most of the time people see anyone having a good time with this game and have to start some kinda pedantic argument about how it isn't actually fun, and people having fun are just naive and incorrect, and that eventually they'll come around and be miserable like the rest of us. Half the time I hear people declaring Elite dead, they're doing it like they can't wait. Like the game shutting down is in some way a good thing. Now that's naive.
Let the man have fun, and let yourself enjoy it if you wanna watch. Or keep chewing on that salt-lick of all the reasons why Elite isn't good enough for you, and go do something else.
I'm really enjoying Foxyloxy's series, and I hope he has a fantastic time in the galaxy for as long as Elite interests him.
