Taking a look at the journey of a new player

Seems he gets it; says he knows there are loads of guides how to grind fast, but he's going to do it his way and enjoy the game. Let his common sense guide him. That's kind of the right attitude.
Yes, and let's see how his attitude evolves over time, if ever. I hope he keeps on posting. And perhaps not visiting this thread ;)

Everyone's definition of grind is different ? I did stuff til it got boring and then did other stuff and carried on . I want the X thing ( rank new module , new ship 🤣etc) now you do it til you are bored and then carry on doing it til you have the magic part etc . Yes engineering is the same process , yes ranks are the same process , yes missions are the same process . Take AX, kill the same Thargoid over and over or take the same sample over and over . Some enjoy it some don't . Some can manage longer doing the same stuff as others .

You are a very wise person, you just forgot one caveat: Do it, but if you choose to, don't complain about it afterwards.
flattery will get you nowhere!* ><'' im in a very happy relationship with my fridge. unfortunately its a long distance relationship, since shes literally at the opposite side of my u-shaped flat :c

*please continue ^^

I liked this thread more at the "wow, I feel a great sense of positive nostalgia about watching a new player being excited about the game" part, and less at the "what is the definition of grind" part. Foxyloxy seems to be having a fantastic time with Elite. He's learning things by doing them, which is exactly how you should do it. And he's got a positive attitude about "the grind" to get himself an iCourier. That's what it's all about. Do stuff, have fun doing stuff, set yourself a goal and work on it in ways you enjoy.

I swear, seems like most of the time people see anyone having a good time with this game and have to start some kinda pedantic argument about how it isn't actually fun, and people having fun are just naive and incorrect, and that eventually they'll come around and be miserable like the rest of us. Half the time I hear people declaring Elite dead, they're doing it like they can't wait. Like the game shutting down is in some way a good thing. Now that's naive.

Let the man have fun, and let yourself enjoy it if you wanna watch. Or keep chewing on that salt-lick of all the reasons why Elite isn't good enough for you, and go do something else.

I'm really enjoying Foxyloxy's series, and I hope he has a fantastic time in the galaxy for as long as Elite interests him.

Have you ever encountered Doctor Who fandom?

It's exactly the same, albeit decades older.

I watched them all by now, and I really liked all of them. The fun he is having is contagious, and it made me smile. That's better than what most other ED Youtubers have to offer.
I agree, just because I may think some things could be better (oh, for infinite developer resources!), it should not detract from the frankly amazing amount of good stuff already in the game.
