Thanks for the screen shots. I saw the performance monitor, and went and found it on the web. I ran the test with GPU Z running and saw this: Those magenta peaks were odd because my fan speed never went above 50% ish. The GPU temp maxed out at 82C when throttling was indicated. That made me go looking for fan throttling software, and I found EVGA precision X. I couldn't immediately figure out how to set a fan curve, so I just set the fans at 100%. Wow, so that's what my fans at 100% sound like, haha. Here's my results...snip...
I ran the steam test again, and while the results didn't change, the GPU temp never went above 63C and no GPU throttling.
These results (removed GPU throttling due to temp, but test results didn't change) make me wonder if I am more limited by CPU/system like Shad said. It might make sense given that the system originally had a 580 gtx in it. I upgraded the GPU, but nothing else.
FWIW, full system specs: i7 2700K at 3.5 Ghz, 780ti, Creative SB Z, 16 GB ram, Win 7 64 bit, Crucial M4 SSD 256 GB, Asus P8Z68 delux gen 3 MOBO.
