Thank You FDEV!!!

It's a game, like any other game, why should I criticise the design? I play how I like, isn't that the epitomy of gaming?
Sorry, Old Chap / Chapess / Thing, I buy games to have fun, when the fun stops, so do I.

I like your employment of modern politically correct options. You are a proud equal opportunities poster!

Plus, good use of gambling TV advertising idioms lol!

Cool :) You must be having nice sky there... from my room I barely see Venus as disk not saying to picture it :D

The local council thoughtfully installed a streetlight approximately seven feet from my bedroom window. On a clear night, I literally can't even see stars any more. :(

Re OP, I'm afraid I think your post is a load of butthurt whining crap. However nice pictures.

I quite liked that little reference... It is true too! I have literally hundreds of games accumulated over the last 3 decades, they get played out, or, on occasion get loaded - played for 28.26 minutes and uninstalled, never to sully my storage again...

I also do not like some random telling me I don't know my own mind.... Had this darned thing for over 66 years now and know exactly what I like or otherwise

I am not so sure.... do you really know what you're thinking? ;)

Or... have you ever thought about a free paint job? Like pitch black? If you are good at climbing that could be a solution. You even could combine it with your crossbow idea.

Trouble is they fix the damn thing so fast it's unreal. It went out one night last week, I was overjoyed imagining that I might get a night or two of not having what's basically a searchlight shining into the bedroom all night. The following night it was fixed. I presume they drove their van through the pothole in the road that I reported two years ago to get here...

And here I am now, defending this small private island of pleasure against the mainstream and all efforts to cripple it to a more casual use. This is undoubtedly a selfish attitude. But then the community wouldn't take my visions, preferences or playing style into account anyway, so my guilty conscience is limited.
🤷‍♂️

I don't think so. The problem is a bit all over the place.

  • 1/2 the problem is people not wanting to mine in the first place and not accepting mining as any solution to tritium.
  • The other 1/2 of the problem is specifically with overlapping hotspots, which i suspect people haven't just tried dropping out anywhere in a normal hotspot or just empty space and remeasuring whether its good enough in those conditions.. all people seem focused on is the peak yield only in the overlapping scenario.

To me anyway, even though all the fss stuff.. was as long as there is some solution, doesn't matter how obtuse, where i can do what i want then live and let live. With the fss they decided not to provide this (and worst of all for no real value in return, the prediscovered freebies). With carrier fuel though im guessing its easier for anyone except the non miners to find a way to whatever experience you want for yourself.

Me? I filled up my carrier in the first week and didn't sell it. So glad i scraped in.

The whole open only idea is based on flawed assumptions. The basic idea behind it is that PVP shouldn't be optional, reducing jump range, or removing stations, or introducing wormholes, or starting goldrushes isn't going to change the fact that players are allowed to choose mode.

I don't know about PVP because i don't care, but for the better of the game, having mandatory player interactions in some form would be a positive thing. Also just thinking though what would get me out of the solo shell into pvp in case someone wanted that. Its not that dumb, what would happen is solo / pve players would see something worth in the pvp environment, then they would go on the exact same journey as a pvp player does to learn the ropes.

The claim some people throw around that all modes should be treated equally in an environment that claims to support multiplayer is rubbish. You can't continue to do something if in principle is harming the experience of the game. Sure its subjective.

And yeah i only play in solo after being trained to do so on ps4. Don't even bother with joining mobius anymore.

SWTOR pulled it off decently. It's not impossible - you just have to be sensible and not try stuff that everyone knows doesn't work - like throwing PvE and PvP into one mode.

You should see eso. That game completely supports (by having the content) playing it like a single player game in a full mmo game world. Just thinking about both games though, if elite also provided the multiplayer ambience that story based mmo's do, it would be pretty good. If the game could handle it.

It can never be mandatory though, players will always have the option of waking out of PVP so any attempt to force it can't work. You just make people learn spaceship escapology.

Sir Ganksalot has the right approach, he encourages people to try and offers to help using honey rather than vinegar.

All modes are equal in that they effect the BGS in the same way. The counter to that is to boost your faction via the BGS. Hanging out in SC up above the ecliptic in a system you've an interest in waiting to attack enemy players is how you lose a BGS fight as it's time wasted.

PVP is something people do for fun if they want, it's nothing beyond that.

That's a right part of pvp though? Its gone somewhere else if you want to guarantee the clubbers dont miss their swing. That's wrong and out of scope.

I don't mean lay a fiendish trap, I mean if you want to get people interested in open/PVP tell them it's good fun and offer to help them out or to duel to shield failure or something.

Trying to restrict their access to the game, ganking noobs or calling people names in the forum is self defeating. Thats what I mean by honey not vinegar.

Oh right, well same to my original one as well.. it just wont happen more than it is already without a pve meaningful incentive to go do pvp. Alot of games are fine with keeping the worlds isolated but hey, nothing wrong with trying.

It doesn't need an in-game incentive beyond being fun.
